The 185th VFS have significantly depleted the ability of air bases in the south of the enemy territory to launch potent aircraft. It's time to take the opportunity to hit closer to home.

Rishiri air base was a target for us some time ago, but the huge number of enemy air assets in the area hampered our efforts. Time to hit it again.

MiG 29G fighters are operating from that air base and while they are not the greatest of airborne threats, it would be useful to take them out of the picture and also remove the ability of the enemy to use Rishiri as a refuge for other enemy aircraft.

Your package is tasked with destroying the active runway (03/21) at Rishiri AB, destroying the SA-4 Long Track and attrition of other ground assets.

It is known that the SA-4 is still active and a HQ battalion was spotted at the end of our last flight.

OCA Strike - Weasel 6 - 2 x F-16C-50, IDM 11 and 12, TACAN 11X and 74X
SEAD/AI - Hammer 2 - 4 x F-16C-50, IDM 21 to 24, TACAN 12X/Y and 75X/Y
Escort - Beast 6 - 4 x F-16C-50, IDM 31 to 34, TACAN 13X/Y and 76X/Y

MS Criteria - Rishiri runway destroyed, Long Track destroyed, max of two losses to package

PS Criteria - Rishiri runway destroyed, Long Track destroyed, max four losses to package.

Took off and proceeded West behind Escort and SEAD. Got a call from the Escort that they were engaging hostile groups to the NW. Offset to SW to stay away from the threat. When it became clear there were a significant number of hostile aircraft, call from SEAD to retrograde inside Patriot coverage. Strike proceeded back towards Home Plate at max endurance speed.

Once air picture was clear, Strike and now a two-ship SEAD turned back towards the target. 1 remaining Escort and 1 of SEAD RTB’d.

As we approached target SEAD pushed North to clear and engage SA-4. Strike flight continued round to the NW to provide target line of sight away from mountain. Call from SEAD to expedite attack due to incoming air threats. Strike turned NE and each fired 8x SDB. 3 runway sections and SA-4 Long Track destroyed. Runway 0% operational.

Strike flight turned SE to regroup and informed SEAD enough fuel for one A2A engagement. SEAD requested delouse from threats to North. Turning to engage, picture was 2x MiG-29 in left group and 1x Su-30 in right group. #1 engaged 1x MiG-29 and 1x Su-30. #2 engaged left most MiG-29. 1x Slammer C shot on each. 2x MiG-29 splashed, Su-30 damaged and cold so no factor.

Both SEAD and Strike RTB’d. While waiting for SEAD to land server crashed.

Good comms between flights, including target handoffs, highlighted by Weasel61 not needing to contact AWACS at all until on the way home to ensure picture remained clean.

Lost our #4 before takeoff due to audio problems. Set off with #3 in a 5 mile trail with Hammer2 and Weasel6 another 5 and 10 miles back respectively.

Midway between STPT 3 and 4 we picked up hostiles approaching from the NW. Lead had not sent #4 (AI) home hoping that Sabre would return and #4 (AI) probably stirred up the hornets nest by throwing spears freely. Targets were initially sorted well with #1 and #2 splashing a pair of Mig29s. #1 thought he spotted a 2nd element and requested #3 to engage lead and fired on their #4 but it turned out to be just a 2-ship.

#1 was now defensive and turned south aggressively to evade an R-27ER. Behind the now-splashed Mig29 2 ship were another 4 Mig29s, 2 Su27s and 4 Su30s.

#2 managed to evade 2 R-77s but a third at close range got him. #1 had turned back to assist and shot down one Su27 that had been chasing #2 but there were too many and turned cold to the SW again.

#1 & #3 now had multiple 29s and 27s on our 5-8 o'clock on the RWR inner circle, and we were heading SW requesting help from Hammer2 and hoping for Patriot assistance.

#1 called for a turn to the south to get distance from a Su27 to the north (our 8-9 o'clock), but #3 turned to his "other south" (aka north) and got an R-77 in the face. A Patriot took down this Su27 shortly after.

#1 now a singleton turned back to the NW when the RWR was clean, and found a Mig29 and Su27 at 12nm and splashed them both, turning back immediately to the SW to get behind Hammer2 now hot on the enemies.

#1 was now bingo weapons (single slammer) so RTB'd with Hammer 22 (Scooter) for company.

This was my first time as flight lead and it certainly didn't turn out to be the quiet escort of last mission. I am glad the overall mission was a success, but it would have been nice to bring some of my flight home.

Took off after BEAST6, aiming for 10NM trail on them. Quickly picked up loads of red air coming from the NW and advised package to retrograde. Turned back hot to delouse BEAST61, #2 called tech on his microstick so was advised to RTB with BEAST61 now bingo weapons.

After Patriot and blue air took care of the imminent threat with enough fuel and weapons, HAMMER2 and WEASEL6 decided to proceed to target.

We picked up 3 contacts cold, headed back to Rishiri and monitored. More contacts popped up from the N and NW and the long track was still quiet. We managed to suppress/keep at bay any air threat and called WEASEL6 in. Long track was coming on and off, we took 3 HARMs shot at it but they all fell short.
WEASEL6 managed to drop an SDB on it as well as their target.

#1 Winchester and #1+#3 still nailed with 27/29, HAMMER2 requested delouse from WEASEL6, dispatching a 3ship behind us.

Egressed safely back under patriot coverage and server crashed as we were turning final.
