NTO Polar Vortex V2.4

BMS 4.34.4

Objective

We have now taken two of the nine cities required to achieve a Strategic success in this campaign with a third, Orajarvi City, about to fall thanks to the 185th clearing out enemy ground and AD units during the previous mission.

Having significantly degraded both enemy air and AD threats, we have now been tasked to clear out enemy ground units defending around the city of Kamilarvi, the next campaign objective. Once this is captured, the strategic intent is to capture Kotalo Town and secure the Eastern flank before pushing SE to take the remaining Objectives.

Package 2263

Satan7 - AI 4x F-16C-50. Target - 1091st Tank Bn and other Battalions East of Kamilarvi within assigned kill box.

Panther7 - AI - 4x F-16C-50 - Target - 1035th Mech Bn and AAA Battalions around the city of Kamilarvi within assigned kill box.

Details of AD and Air threats are in the Strategic Brief.

MS: At least 20 enemy ground units destroyed (excluding buildings), no losses from enemy action.

PS: At least 10 enemy ground units destroyed (excluding buildings), max 1 loss from enemy action.

MS

Plan

Box 5nm separation then trail 2nm trail over target. Anti-clockwise box attack pattern to deconflict with Panther7. Took GBU-12 as GBU-54 not available.

Execution

Gradual climb after departure to A22. Couple of picture calls from AWACS, no factor. Went into trail and identified stationary column at Southern end of kill boxes with some stacked units. Each aircraft dropped 4x LGB, all hit their targets for cricket scores. After 1st element were Dakota went high CAP and waited for 2nd element to finish. While waiting took bets on if Panther71 would chase the A50 to the SE and get shot down by his SA-6 nemesis

Once Miller time rejoined and flew a nice OHB onto R34L.

Overall a very nice flight from Satan7 with all weapons on target and some very nice formation, a great tight attack pattern and a nice OHB and landing.

After flight package discussed OHB and agreed SOP entry speed of 350 knots and 1500ft AGL, 3.5G break, 250 knots 1,000ft AGL on downwind then turn to final at perch.

MS

Plan
#1 and #3 to find and destroy the mech battalion and AAA on the east of the city, #2 to take care of the AAA on the west. Anti-clockwise wagon wheel with a hard deck of 20000ft. GBU-54s.

Execution

Ingress behind SATAN7 at A26, heads down 40NM from target as picture clear. #2 found his target and could drop all bombs in 1 pass, cleared to A30 and monitor any calls from AWACS.
#1 could not find the mech battalion which had move north and out of the kill box by the time we got there. #1 and #3 engaged all remaining AAA over the city.
We picked up an A-50 80NM SE but could not safely get to him due to SA-6 and 17 on the way. We did not want to risk it and only pushed a few miles outside our box.
SATAN7 were dropping their last bombs as we asked if we were needed longer on station. Picture clear so it was Miller time for us.
Proceeded to "OHB" on 34L but forgot to advise I was not going to pull 3G and ended up with #2 still rejoining on my 9 o'clock who had to deconflict high and then #3 at my 9 o'clock on the perch. Confusing, but we all maintained and called visual to re-arrange ourselves on final with #3 taking the lead.

Landed just on time to see SATAN7 coming back.
