Objective
As friendly ground forces begin pushing towards the strategic objectives of Kamilarvi City and Kotala Town, our task is to clear a path to ease their progress.
Our previous mission severely degraded the enemy presence in the vicinity of Kamilarvi City, annihilating T90 and Engineering battalions and all but destroying the AAA defense of Kamilarvi City.
There are two objectives for this mission. The first, for Cajun flight, is to locate and destroy the full strength 53rd Air Defense battalion (SA17) which has been recently spotted heading northwest from Kotala. It should be noted that SA17 battalions have been known to drive significant distances at speed to avoid detection.
The second objective, for Mudhen flight, is to search and destroy enemy mechanised battalions on the road north from Kamilarvi City. Plenty of targets remain.

Cajun2 - DEAD - to take out the 53rd SA17 battalion (full strength)
Mudhen5 - AI - search and destroy for mech battalions (1053th, 1035th, 195th)
MS: At least 20 enemy ground forces destroyed, including all SA17 launchers.
PS: At least 15 enemy ground forces destroyed, including 3 SA17 launchers.

Request to cancel the Growler flight as this prevents the SA17 from singing, making it much more difficult to locate. If we allow it to sing, at least we will have an indication of its bearing from the RWR and cam then employ Wild Weasel to keep it interested while we give it the good news.

I can do that.
I just thought that with the Growler on station, we have the time and freedom to carefully scan and identify ground targets and pick up the SA17s. Without the Growler we will be well within WEZ for the SA17 to employ GBU12/54 necessitating the weaseling.

If I'm on bulldog, I don't intend to go after SA17s with GBU12/54s. First we need to find them and if they're "growlered" we'll find it hard. Then once we find them I want something with stand-off range We need to find them, kill the snowdrift then go in with something with preferably a longer range than 16Nm.

Flight carried a mixed load with #1 and #2 loaded with GBU54s and #3 loaded with AGM88, in case Cajun didn't manage to silence the SA17 covering our target AO. We ingressed in wedge, followed by #1 #2 going trail to the Pre-IP Hold and #3 stripped and searching for the SA17 and/or any other pop-up threats to the mission. We shortly got the news that Cajun were down to a 3-ship and were requesting assist from #3 as they were now Arizona. He turned in and fired a HARM at the last remaining SA17 launcher but the git didn't light up so the HARM missed. Meanwhile, #1 and #2 were in hot, having identified their target columns and sorted. #1 was called off by Cajun to attack the remaining SA17 launcher with a GBU54, since multiple overflights had been carried out with no launches, so #1 stripped to find it. Once we'd gotten over the initial faff of finding the target (some refresher training on Markpoints and DTC required methinks), #1 dropped a bomb on it, wiping out the Bn completely. Then turning back in to the original target area. By this time, #2 was Dakota so joined #3 on top cover, who then fired his remaining HARM, scoring a kill on a Snowdrift that was singing off to the east. With 3 more passes, #1 dropped the rest of his load, followed by a rejoin and recovery to Homeplate. A fairly decent line-up to the OHB was followed by an okay recovery, with #2 extending a little too far on the downwind leg, but otherwise all pilots were pretty much 'on the numbers'.

Plan:
Trespass SA-17 WEZ from N and W, confirm tally and have it engage #1, #3 or 4# so it can remain stationary for #2 to engage it with JSOWs.
Execution:
Great intel, target was exactly where we expected it to be.
Launchers kept moving around the city but spotted that they were following the same path as the snowdrift a couple miles ahead.
Requested #2 to target snowdrift with JSOW, expecting damage on the columns of launchers following.
#2 ended up within WEZ and got engaged by the SA-17 after releasing the JSOWs. #3 and #1 fired harms at the launchers with good results. A few secs later JSOWs hit and destroyed all launchers, or that's what I thought.
#4 reported being hit by AAA and with most systems bent, was cleared RTB.
MUDHEN5 was cleared on target area when I spotted 1 remaining launcher, stationary, a few miles N of the city.
CAJUN2 now dakota, we requested assistance of MUDHEN53 to engage remaining launcher with harm, both #1 and #3 trying to make it sing but no joy-
Requested change of plan and have GBUs dropped on it by MUDHEN51.
After some confusion getting the coordinates sorted, MUDHEN51 confirmed tally and fished the last launcher of the SA-17 battalion off.
RTB with OHB, Griffin passing the sound barrier several times due to warping (fun to watch on Pegasus' stream!).
