We will be building on the BVR Training and the Pattern Work so review the links for reference material.
Also check out this link on Firing Multiple Slammers.

Flight Role: CAP Cowboy11: "Sabre" AA=3 AG=0 RTB Cowboy12: "Roxmate" AA=1 AG=0 RTB Cowboy13: "Echion" AA=3 AG=0 RTB Cowboy14: "Mango" AA=0 AG=0 RTB MS
Flight Role: CAP Fury21: "Vosene" AA=2 AG=0 RTB MS
Flown primarily as a 4-ship, Cowboy1, with Fury2 supporting as required. Cowboy1 split into elements, box with 15-20nm separation in CAP.
Flight admin points covered at debrief were: Airfield navigation Brevity and reducing comms Recovery flow and overhead break. Element and Flight formation integrity was generally good.
Engagement 1 - 2x Mig-23 ========================
Picked up by Cowboy11 at over 40nm to the North hot. First element committed. No 2 unable to sort. Did not respect 15nm MAR. No 1 engaged 1x bandit at 10nm with Slammer-C, splash. Continued to press and first element ended up in turning engagement with 2nd bandit. #3 supporting hit bandit with a head-on Aim-9X. Bandit disengaged to West and was splashed by Fury21 with a Slammer-C shot.
Key learning points - Sort and need to respect MAR.
Engagement 2 - 3x MiG-25 ========================
Cowboy11 picked up bandit ground to NE at over 45nm. Unsure of group size. First element committed while 2nd element was on cold leg of CAP and this resulted in a separation of 35nm as engagement started, which was too large. Good sort this time and both Lead and #2 engaged with Slammer-C at around 15nm. #2 respected MAR but #1 broke it again, finally maneuvering away from threats at around 9nm. Luckily only #2 was fired at and his good drag defeated the missile. Both targets were splashed.
Final MiG-25 was now chasing #1. #3 engaged at 13nm with a Slammer-C forcing the bandit defensive and it was splashed.
Key learning points: Respect the MAR, aggressive turn away from threat, mutual support.
Engagement 3 - 4x Su-27 (Active) ===============================
CAP was resumed but flight was engaged by a 4-ship of Su-27 inbound from the W. 2nd element engaged, with #3 engaging 2x bandits and #4 engaging 1x bandit. Good sort and fired at same time at 20nm. MAR was initially set a 23nm but due to aggressive defensive maneuvers executed at 15nm, both aircraft managed to defeat 3x R-77 missiles fired at them. During this time first element had also engaged Su-27 group from the flank and #2 fired 1x Slammer-C at the same target as #4. Result was 2x kills for #3 and 1x kill for #2. Finally Fury21 splashed the remaining Su-27 with 2x lofted Slammer-C shots fired at 24nm and a turn to gimbals then defensive at 20nm once the missiles were Pitbull.
Key learning points - Much better engagement with defensive turns enabled element to defeat 3x R-77. Poor coordination between Elements resulted in both engaging at same time and shots on same target from different aircraft.
Overall good mission with some good kills demonstrated and plenty of learning points.
