Plan: CAP South of kill box, in box formation 15nm between elements, anti-clockwise CAP at A27.

Execution: Departure as SOP, during ingress Python1 called F-16 bandits to our North that they were engaging. We checked South to avoid, good job by Panther1.

As we turned North towards CAP area, AWACS called a singleton F-16 below us at 2,000ft. No 1 directed the 2nd element to engage. No 3 saw the bandit popping flares and then it disappeared. No 1 queried Chalis1 who confirmed the bandit was gone, likely shot down by friendly SAMS.

CAP was uneventful for 30 minutes but, on the last turn South, No 3 detected bandits to our West. Second element had lead, first element supporting detected a trail group of 2x Bandit F-16, which it sorted on. No 3 and 4 each got a shot away on the 2-ship Bandit group of F-16 but No 3 broke MAR and was shot down by an enemy slammer. Due to second element declaring defensive, No 1 re-sorted on Lead bandit group and fired 2x Slammers but before they got there these targets were destroyed by the 2nd element. The trail bandit 2-ship F-16 group continued North and disengaged. The flight turned cold and No 1 deloused to confirm the tail was clear then the remaining 3 aircraft landed back at home plate just as night was falling.

Overall a good mission, good comms, good ingress support from Panther1 and only breaking of the MAR prevented all aircraft from RTB'ing.

Flight Role: BARCAP

Python11: "Floyd" AA=5 AG=0 RTB
Python12: "Veiland" AA=1 AG=0 EJT
Python13: "Zipgun" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Python14: "Knight" AA=2 AG=0 KIA

We engaged a group of F-16 a minute after takeoff. They were heading towards Lobo and we could surprise them from the flank. Lost #2 by getting too close to the bandits.

The further ingress to our BARCAP area was uneventful and the radar showed only one jamming contact, 70 miles out, no factor at that time.

Later we had a contact of SU-25, heading our way. #4 had 6 missiles left and was ordered to engage. At that time #3 got (perhaps) too close to the group to the north east and had to engage. That group was actually engaging two Mirage, but there have been 8 more bandits coming in behind. After firing our missiles we disengaged, but #4 was asked too late to hurry and trade altitude for speed but was shot down.

Being down to one slammer the flight egressed back to base.
