After nearly two hours standing outside their premises this morning I have managed to confirm the booking of 4 pitches for the 185th from Kempsford Camping.
The 185th 10th Anniversary meet is therefore confirmed as RIAT 2009 from 17-19 July 2009.
As already outlined, the plan is to meet on the Friday at the campsite next door to the airfield and have a few beers and a meal. For those arriving early enough there is usually a chance to watch the final rehearsals and aircraft arrivals. We'll attend the airshow on the Saturday (18 July) then have a BBQ with a few more beers in the evening before departing around 1400 on the Sunday once the exit opens (you can watch the flying display from the camp site in the morning or just nurse your hangover).
Cost for airshow tickets is £34.95 plus a £3 admin charge. Please book these yourself from the following link but make sure you get Saturday tickets (18 July): http://www.airtattoo.com/airshow/Airshow_Tickets
If anyone is coming from overseas and is unable to get a ticket online then e-mail me and we'll try to work something out.
Cost for camping is £26 each for both the Friday and Saturday night plus a share of the £80 pitch fee. Last time we also chipped in to buy some food and drink but we can confirm this closer to the time. Please do not contact Kempsford Camping direct. I will allocate spaces on the pitches based on a first come, first served basis and agree the payment method on an individual basis.
We now have until the end of May to fill our pitches otherwise we'll be asked to give some of them up to reflect the numbers actually going.
Confirmed so far are and the ones I have paid upfront for to secure the pitches are:
Myself Griffin Crowebar Ghostrider Reds
If you definitely intend to go then please sign up below and provide the following details:
1. When you intend to arrive.
2. If you intend to bring a car (and if you are already giving a lift to other members of the 185th).
3. If you need transport and where from.
4. If you are bringing a tent and how many spaces you have for other members of the 185th to share it with.
5. If you can bring any other stuff such as a tables, chairs, gas BBQ, gazebo etc.
So come on guys, sign up below and lets make this a meet to remember.

Ghostrider is definitely in!
1. arriving Friday with Crowebar 2. Crowebar's car 3. Transport is organised, no further help needed 4. Have a small 4-men-tent, but no 3 Novac's would fit in it. So it's actually a 1-man-tent. A small guy can share it with me if absolutely necessary. Hey, and i am not snoring anymore!!! 5. Since i arrive with the plane, it's difficult to bring big stuffs.
Any further questions?

Thanks for taking the time to book this Vosene. Do you want money asap? I have a 4 birth tent, me and Ghostrider, so could fit more in. I have a gazeebo I could bring and a gas BBQ if required, but small car so only if reqd. Want to ask my brother if he wants to come as he goes to Fairford just about every year.
Me and Ghostrider will aim to arrive lunchtime ish.

I am gonna book the flight tickets end this week and will let you know about my arrival. I am coming from Frankfurt, probably. Have to check which ones are the best cnx. Would be nice to have some transportation, will confirm it.
Don´t have any tent, would appreciate if someone has some free space.
Will give a final update on Friday night.
Vosene, cheers!

After much debate with the Mr's....
I'm in
I will also be bringing my 8 year old son Tom. (He who has been to 2 airshows and both have been canceled including Fairford last year )
Traveling down in my own car.
Plan to arrive at Fairford around 1300hrs Fri.
I have a good sized 4 man tent (same tent as Pointers) Me and my son in one room so thats 2 spare slots for 185th members.
Equipment...Small table, 2 adult chairs, 1 child's chair. 2x double air-beds for people in my tent. (a little bit of comfort ) I will also bring a fish/sausage smoker.
I will also bring a supply of ear-plugs...In case Ghost's snoring is not cured For sale at £10 per pair.....If you think thats expensive. Try sleeping on Fri night without them.....You'll be queuing up at my door to buy then for Sat night.
Red's how much rough stuff are you bringing mate?

Ghostrider this is going to be fun, cos guess what, I also snore, both in same tent lol. We ought to add the clause 'must snore' to the offer of the spare room in the tent & bring a sign 'snorer's welcome' for the door. Perhaps we can make some tunes lol.
Novac your not smoking my sausage!

Update. Confirmed are:
Vosene Griffin Crowebar (bringing Ghostrider) Ghostrider Reds Tiag (needs transport) Novac + son
Tomb has also said he'll attend if able.
I'd encourage people to arrange for a car share when able as the more cars we have, the lower the maximum number of people who can attend as cars must be parked within the pitch area.

Then Crowebar is going to keep you awake all night and you can join our "wide-awake" club Ghost. I'd avise drinking heavily each evening to minise the impact.
Check you e-mail about the ticket.

Is it possible to park a camper somewhere close? Might be heading south for this summer, and might take the ferry or tunnel to UK.

Stingray,
I would say it's impossible to park a camper van anywhere near Fairford during Riat weekend. The Police would move you on.
However there are a lot of campsites around the area. (just googled Fairford camping) There are also a lot of sites that open just for the event. So you would either have to pre-book one or try your luck on the day.

Stingray,
I'd advise against bringing it anywhere near Fairford if you haven't already got something sorted as it gets pretty busy there and it is too big to put on one of the pitches I have booked as it won't leave room for anything else.
That said I'm sure it would be be possible for you to park your campervan near the house of someone in the UK who is going and get a lift in to Fairford. You could then "rough it" with the rest of us in a tent but there are hot showers and toilets available on site.
