We have moved forward to Taegu airbase and our first task is to destroy the remaining runway (01/19) at Seoul. Runway 18/36 has recently been destroyed, but Mig-29s are still able to operate from 01/19.

Seoul is the only airbase currently operating Mig-29s so destroying the airbase will put a significant dent in the enemy's air capability.

Mig-23s are based 20nm further NW at Kimpo, and Mig-21s have been spotted in the area.

There will be considerable amounts of heavy AAA in the area, but no active SAMs. Manpads (SA-14s) should be expected.

Package 1974
Beast 4 - OCA Strike - Tacan 11/74
Falcon 5 - ESCORT - Tacan 12/75
Banshee 2 - SEAD - Tacan 13/76

MS - Seoul Runway 01/19 destroyed and no losses to enemy action.
PS - Seoul Runway 01/19 destroyed and max. 1 loss to enemy action

Support
Chalice 2 - AWACS

On ingress, Falcon5 asked us to hold position (80nm from target) as there were many air threats to sort out.

We held in position watching the unfolding battle, ready to assist if needed.

When eventually called in to the target, we went to burner to get in and out asap. All priority targets (2x runway sections and 2x runway thresholds) were destroyed. Called Dakota and immediately egressed for home.

Very tidy overhead break and landing.

Job well done.

A very busy mission for the Escort, even before we got on station, we picked up a wall of IL28s and SU25s which we later discovered were on a bombing mission themselves. But we had to leave them as they were escorted by at least 3 groups of Mig29s and Mig23s, with another group of Mig21s. first engagement was on the 29s, with the flight quickly set into a chainsaw. #2 sorted on 2x 29s so #1 came off dry to allow #2 to press, scoring 2 kills. #3 followed up but also came off dry on that one. ACMI later showed 2x Hornets also in the vicinity and engaging the red air. On #1's next pass, he got kills on the remaining 2x Mig 29s. From that point it got very confusing but thanks to the great comms and coordination within the flight, we manage to kill and at least push off the remaining threats, with a further 5 kills on enemy air, allowing Banshee to go in and do their thing. Uneventful egress following Banshee out ended with 2 very nice overhead breaks by both flights.

Video from my pit:

The 4 things a wingman is allowed to say:

1.Two
2.Lead, you're on fire.
3.I'm bingo fuel.
4.I'll take the fat one.... :/
