FINALE

Kurile V1.4

BMS 4.34.4

Objective

Our ground forces are about to re-capture the last remaining strategic city of Esashi with Wakkanai and Numakawa having already been recaptured. Before an end to hostilities is declared, the 185th has one final piece of unfinished business, to sink the enemy carrier that eluded us earlier in the campaign.

There is an enemy airbase to the West during ingress, enemy air threat from the North island and at least 1 active SA-5 NW of the carrier that may be a factor.

Package 1080

JAGUAR5 - TASMO - 4x F-16C-50. Destroy enemy carrier.

Panther6 - ESCORT - 4x F-16C-50. Protect JAGUAR5.

HAMMER7 - SEAD ESCORT - 4x F-16C-50. Protect JAGUAR5.

MS: Carrier sunk and maximum 2 losses to package from enemy action.

PS: 2 hits on carrier and maximum 4 losses to the package from enemy action.

Uneventful ingress. We held south of the target while Panther and Jaguar had their fun with the 29s, 33s and Griffin's IL76. On cleared hot, #1 and #2 rifled, followed by #3 after a BDA. All mavericks hit the target, with the final one sinking it and getting the kill. A long egress to RTB, we joined downwind for a left base onto r/way 30, but #1 over-cooked the base turn and call a go-around. #2 & #3 landed with no dramas. #1 pushed out 12 Nm north, then arced for another go behind the escorts. Good flight, with great formation positioning and comms in the flight.

The 4 things a wingman is allowed to say:

1.Two
2.Lead, you're on fire.
3.I'm bingo fuel.
4.I'll take the fat one.... :/

Stayed about 10 mile ahead of Jaguar and the same behind Panther.

Nothing much to report until near the target when Panther were engaged with bandits and we pushed on them as Panther turned cold. My slammer was out run by the bandit.

We pushed out to the west to avoid conflict with Panther and found an IL-76 sneaking north over Russia at low level so I shot him down.

Once Jaguar called Miller Time we returned to base with an overhead break to land.

Ingressed box 10NM and picked up N group over SA-4, 2ship Mig-29 declared hostile and handed over to element. Another 2ship Mig-29 popped up from the north. #3 and #4 fox-3 and killed 2 of them, one turned cold being chased by F-18s and another one managed to slip in.
#1 now hot fox-3 but only damaged. At this point SA-4 was active but no launch spotted.
#3 came back hot and finished the bandit, picture clear.
This engagement could've been the end of PANTHER6 as the whole flight turned hot, into the SA-4 WEZ, when instead we should've created some separation turning S. #1 should also have made an earlier decision to commit on the threat. Good call from HAMMER7 to hold with JAGUAR5 and offer support.

Resumed ingress monitoring both airbase on the W and target area. At about 50NM from target we picked up a 2ship Su-33, hot. We sorted targets, #1 fox-3, splashed, #2 was unable to fire. #1 was defensive and #2 turned cold, unaware he had been fired at. #4 fox-3 on the remaining bandit, cheap shot, #4 and #3 turned cold and HAMMER71 joined the party with a fox-3 on same bandit, dragged the slammer and miss.
#1 finished it off as it turned hot, picture clear.

Set up CAP and cleared JAGUAR5.
Picked up slow contact crossing SE-NE, no factor, relayed info to JAGUAR5 no calling miller time.
Picked up singleton Su-27 and 2ship Mig-29 on egress over the E, but we kept our distance, no factor.

Straight in recovery.
