Command is concerned about the significant air assets and threats that the enemy is sending up from the south. Many of our packages have come up against strong airborne opposition from high performing aircraft.
Today your task is focussed on Oulu air base on the coast of Finland.
Package 2223 is scheduled to take off at 12:25hrs. Weather is fair with cloud base of 5000 feet. Wind is from 217° at 13 knots.
Vapour 7, a four ship of EF-2K-UK Eurofighters, will be first up to perform a sweep ahead of your aircraft, focusing mainly on enemy air threats coming from the south and south east.
Cobra 3 is a four ship DEAD with added escort duties. Your task is primarily to take out the Flap Lid radars of both the 12th and 72ns ADBs at Oulu. ( Be advised that due to the wonders of BMS all units are superimposed on each other). Your secondary task is to protect the OCA strike so that they can complete their primary task. A tertiary task is to destroy as much of the remaining assets in the ADBs.
Jaguar 1 is a two ship OCA strike. Your sole task is to get to the targets and destroy runway 12/30.
MS - Flap Lids destroyed and runway destroyed with no losses.
PS - Flap Lids destroyed and runway destroyed with no more than one loss from each flight.
Due to a significant amount of red air we opted for a 4ship BARCAP with #4 armed with 2 JASSM to be launched at last known positin of the SA-10s. We managed to push back enemy fighters from NE and S so Vosene could drop his weapons. SA-10s are now without launchers and flap lids. We then continued to engage enemy fighters up to bingo scoring several kills with good comms, tactics and teamwork. Still, a couple of Mig-29 tried to sneak in from the N while we were busy on the S.
1 and 4 RTB before 2 and 3 due to bingo. 3 had a gear malfunction and had to do a belly landing.
