Mission Success

Slight delay on TO due to Plasma13 technical issues.
Plasma 1 proceeded to flight plan with a +-25NM spacing with Warhawk1 and held within the Hawk WEZ for some cover while Warhawk1 was sweeping to AA & SAM threats.
At this point Plasma11 had visual on a tank battalion in box formation where it was supposed to be.
Targets were sorted while holding, awaiting Warhawk1 clearance. The plan was for Plasma11 to hold at 20.000ft while sorting targets for 12 and 13.
After being cleared in by Warhawk1, Plasma1 set up a 2nm trail. At about 15NM from target Warhawk1 called us off, we moved back to the Hawk's WEZ.
A few minutes Plasma1 was cleared back in, that time Plasma11 went in first, fuel now being a concern for our escort.
Plasma 11 & 12 dropped their bombs on target, good effects. Plasma13 had technical issues and could not get weapons released.
Plasma1 lost comms with Plasma13 for a few minutes after his last pass. We knocked it off and called RTB as Warhawk1 was Joker, informing them of the situation with Plasma13.
Plasma11 and 12 safely made it home while Plasma13 had to divert to unknown airfield due to Nav systems failure.

MS

Take off was formation and to the west so we move smoothly into the climb and headed for SP3. We levelled off at FL280 though it was difficult to keep the speed up. (I wonder if this model is underpowered.)

As we passed the friendly Hawk site we were going to split, me to SP4 and Reds to SP5 in preparation for our anti-clockwise BARCAP, but two MiG-29As came on the radar and we reformed to confront them. I advised Plasma to orbit over the Hawk site.

They faded in and out of the FCR on RWS and Reds had difficulty getting them. I turned to TWS and successfully transmitted the data to him. The targets were cold but when they turned we took our shots. My first shot killed a MiG but I had to turn to evade the missile he shot at me.

It should be noted that at this time we had ventured into an SA-2 area but it did not engage.

Reds took his shot and also killed his target and continued hot. He turned in behind me by 7 miles. Engagement over.

We then set out to kill the SA-2 that covered the area to be attacked by Plasma 1. I fired my HARM at the target as it lit up on me. It missed but the enemy fired three SA-2s at me, I watched one of them fly by my cockpit! Red's had turned cold in defence as well.

Red's turned hot and we then had two more MiG-29As with us. They tried to bracket us. Reds turned cold and I locked both in TWS and fired at each. Both missiles were out run by the enemy and then they turned hot. I only had one slammer left. Both MiGs turned to me while Reds bracketed out to the left. I fired my remaining slammer at the northern most bandit and off he went to the west with my slammer on his tale. Meanwhile his wingman continued to close in on me. I turned cold and Red's fired at him from side on, taking him down.

Meanwhile the other guy, having outrun my missile came back in . Again he locked onto my tail and didn't spot Reds coming in hot until it was too late and down he went. Another engagement over.

At this point we called Plasma in for their attack while we looked for the SA-2.

I was Winchester at this point and only had one HARM left. I flew in towards the SA-2 to act as bait but nothing happened. I turned cold and Red's followed me in. It lit up as he approached and launched two SA-2s at him, but he fired his HARM and down it went, the SA-2s missing as they were unguided.

The rest of the flight was uneventful as we set up a CAP at FL290.

Once Plasma finished we headed home and landed intact and unscratched.

I enjoyed this mission. Good comms, good wingy, good result.

Despite having spent the afternoon checking my kit and 2nd screens/tablet I still had some technicals which meant I had to quit and rejoin or alt tab etc.
Sorry.

Anyway enough excuses. I clearly heard Mango saying sp 5 was due east at 95 miles when he had landed. But I already had Kangnung? in sight and landed there. In hind sight I can see that Kumni was north of the flot, so I could have followed Mangos bearings and got to Kumni using his reference point as a tacan steering point.

enjoyed it nonetheless

Geography, we don't need no steenking geography :)
