The last mission manage to destroy all but one ship in the 44th Battleship group but there are still several long range SAM systems on various ships in the CVN, 44th and 77th Battleship groups.

The aim of the next mission is to knock out the remainder of these longer range SAM equipped ships and give us complete freedom of manoeuvre over the Gulf of Bothina.

The Vuojarvi Highway strip is still in action, equipped with SU-30M fighters.

Repairs at Oulu AB, East of our target continue with just 1 runway section left before the airbase is operational again. They have a compliment of 14 x SU-25 attack aircraft, 18 x MiG-29S fighters and 22 x KA-52 attack helicopters.

Your primary objective is to attack and sink the Long Beach, the only remaining ship in the 44th Battleship Task Force. It is armed with the SM-2ER, which have a 50nm range and can engage up to 40,000ft.

Your secondary objectives are the DDG51 A. Burke in the 70th Carrier Group Task Force and the CG-47 Ticond in the 77th Battleship Group. Both are armed with the SM-2MR, which has a range of 35nm and a maximum engagement altitude of 40,000ft.

Targets of opportunity are the FFG-7 Perry ships, one each in the Carrier Task Force and 77th Battleship Task Force. Both are equipped with the SM-1MR, which has a range of 17nm and a maximum engagement altitude of 40,000ft.

TASMO flights are from the 941st Squadron and 543rd Squadron while the Escort is made up from the 185th squadron, all at Gallivare AB.

Package 13600

After taking off and checking in, we had incoming bandits and were initially asked to support. We sorted the bandits but the first group had been taken out and the second group turned cold.

We returned to our mission and when getting close to the target area, we could not fully engage as the Long Beach was in front from some of our targets.

We had #2 engage AG, #3 engage his first AG target and #1 turn cold. After the Long Beach was taken out by Cowboy, #1 and #3 continued the AG engagement.

Good support from Falcon and Cowboy.

Near the end, #2 & #3 started heading N to support with the AA engagement, but the weapons timed out and RTBed.

Difficult to sort the ships, when the groups are incomplete and they might be heading any way.

Cowboy1 TASMO

Cowboy11 "Mango" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Cowboy12 "Echion" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

MS

Took off and held while Falcon and Sting cleared bandits. Proceeded to target when cleared in, found the Longbeach quite easily being a single ship released the missiles, all hit but it was 2 who got the kill.

While waiting for missiles to hit were called in by Falcon to assist in A2A encounter and got 1 Su30 that Falcon left us. Then rtbd. Coms and coordination between flights were good and it was MS for Cowboy.

Flight Role: ESCORT
Falcon11: "Griffin" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Falcon12: "Floyd" AA=2 AG=0 RTB

MS

Took off and on the climb to 30K we encountered our first pair of SU-30s. They flew across our nose and after good sorting, we fired at them. I got a little close (largely due to lag) and two AA-12s chased me, but I happily evaded them. The two bandits went down.

They had an other pair of SU-30s behind them. We engaged and they ran off to the west and seemed to land but they were killed by ground troops.

We called the TASMOs in to start their attacks (we had asked them to hold until the initial furball was over). We set up a CAP looking on a heading of 40° towards the active air base.

We soon had two more pairs of SU-30's approaching. We engaged and killed two. One of them decided to venture into our Patriot envelope and suffered the fatal circumstances. Mango took out the remaining one after he was called to support after his TASMO function was complete.

Once Sting had finished we acted as rear guard while the TASMOs headed home. We followed once they were in the Patriot zone.

Good comms and SA. Nice flight.
