Last week we have attacked ground units in Grid 5.1 which are now
low on morale and no factor for a few days. Our A-10s are still
sitting on a base with a destroyed runway, so we have to fly
AI missions with F-16 from Seosan.

Our targets today are units in grid 3.9 and we hope to open a door
for our units to move north.

The first picture shows the general situation and the flight paths.

The second picture shows the last known positions of several battalions
in grid 3.9.

Package 26233

Cowboy1 and Falcon1 are a 4-ship AI flights.
Mission success is given for 24 ground units destroyed by 8 pilots,
PS is given for 16 ground units destroyed by 8 pilots.

Fury1 is a 4-ship ESCORT flight.
Mission success is given for no losses to Cowboy and Falcon,
PS is given for 25% loss max.

All flights are from the 912th squadron, taking off from Yeonchon.

IDM will be from Fury.
Cowboy11 is package commander.

Timings:

Flight paths and weapons are free.
The weather is fair at home plate and sunny at the target.

Good Hunting

MS

No incidents on the way, we boresighted and headed to the target area.

There we started engaging the difficulty being the friendlies mixed with enemies.

We had no issues with enemy fighters thanks to the escort flight (Fury) and once we got rid of our Mavericks we were RTB.

Good comms, although busy with all the declaring.

Good mission overall, in spite of the 'bad' start.

An uneventful run to the target, we picked up contact about 20 miles out from the TGT, these proved to be a flight a Su-25. Thinking weapons conservation, I commanded the AI to take them out (which I think they interpreted as go buy them a drink or dinner or something, cos they certainly didn't destroy them!) They were cold for a long while. They turned hot so after realising the AI weren't going to destroy them, we did it ourselves. However, being Su-25 and one missile rarely enough to kill them, we expended half our ammo doing so.

Picture remained clear for a while, long enough for the first Interdiction flight to get busy.

After a while longer, a flight of enemy F-16 probed us, which we engaged immediately. Falcon1 flight got involved (unnecessarily) and the situation got very confusing soon afterwards - I ended up fratting Falcon11 (which thankfully was AI-driven). We surmised later their involvement was probably due to the fact AI was leading the flight.

No more enemy contact after this F-16 incursion, we RTB'd with Bingo fuel.

Regarding the mission overall, I think it went well, especially the AG element - I didn't envy the ground shooters trying to pick their targets out of the ground-based furball. Perhaps we need to look to attack units with distance separation from friendly forces next time?

Respect also to Hazza - jumped in at last minute, performed wingman duties admirably, and our formation landing was excellent, all the more so given the crosswind and his assymetric loadout. Great job Hazza!

MF,

Sabre had some issues which lead to him rejoining as No 4 who was already on his landing approach.

Fisty took over, as briefed we waited for Cowboy to clear the kill box, but then the friendlies had merged and it was impossible to get a reliable track. After several attempts, we called it a day and rtb.

Not a good flight for Sabre, bad start and forced to eject near to home plate, rather than risk blocking the runway.
