Your target this week is the Togwon-ni nuclear power station. This is much deeper into enemy territory than he have been for some time so expect more ground and air threats to be a factor.

The above image shows your route. Note the airborne threats in the area and the newly found AAA and SA-11 sites found by the friendly FA-18 flying up there at the moment.
Falcon and Fury shall take off from Nowhere (Yechon) AB and Cowboy from Chongju.
Package 18198 Cowboy 1 is a four ship strike flight. MS is for the Reactor, Admin Building, Processor and last transformer in the list to be destroyed. PS will be awarded if the Reactor and the Processor are destroyed.
Falcon 1 is the four ship escort and Package Commander, tasked to protect the strike flights. IDA will be from this flight. MS no AA losses to the strike flights, PS one loss to the strike flight.
Fury 1 is a four ship SEAD flight. MS is no radar SAM or radar AAA losses to the package, PS is a maximum of two similar losses.
Time on Target TOT for Cowboy 1 is 07:00hrs at FL220. IDM 1, VHF 1, tacan 11/74 TOT for Falcon 1 is 06:57hrs at FL280. IDM 2, VHF 2, tacan 16/79 TOT for Fury 1 is 06:59hrs at FL270. IDM 3, VHF 3, tacan 21/84
Flight path is fixed for mutual support.
The weather is still on the change and is expected to remain poor for the next few hours. Choose your weapons accordingly.
Good Hunting

On the way to the target, Cowboy called us about some bandits left of scope, we turned to investigate, but didn't find them, and at some point they (Cowboy) also lost them.
We then returned to the flight plan, and while approaching the flot, the first element started monitoring a bandit on the east coast, of no factor. We then started a grinder south of the flot, while Fury engaged their first target.
A 2ship mig 29 was engaged by the 2nd element and the route was clear for a minute.
From that moment on, things turned sour: our 2nd element started to engage another group coming from NE, and Tank spotted another group coming from NE.
I turned cold and called a regroup for my flight, then also asked all flights to retrograde south of the flot, which I think they did.
At this point, my #2 had a 29 on his six, asked for a delouse, I was cold, turned to support, couldn't find the bandit, and got shot down.
Zipgun, if you could post the next part of the story... |

Flight Role: SEAD Fury31: "Veiland" AA=1 AG=1 RTB Fury32: "Floyd" AA=2 AG=0 RTB Fury33: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=0 TECH Fury34: "Zohrs" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Lost Griffin to a technical right after takeoff. Moved across the flot with escort flight. Fired on SA11 on flightpath as briefed (PPT 61) and turned cold. After calling this on UHF 6 we got the call from Escort that multiple hostiles were inbound and that we should retrogade well south of the flot. On the Flot we got flanked by MIG-29's (or whatever they were) and I had one MIG-29 jump from outer to inner circle and launch a missile at me. In the end we were able to outrun them. Well south of the Flot we turned north, as Zipgun recommended to abort the package and requested someone else to take over package command as he were about to run out fuel. Fury took package command and told everyone to RTB while trying to cover the remnants of the escort flight, killing 4xSU-25 presenting themselves. Plenty of confusion ... Edit: There seemed to be problems with the ini file in SEAD flight. Basicly our flightplan ended halfway between the flot and the targer area. I would recommend for the future only to include a test file with PPT points for copy paste, rather than a complete .ini file. |

Simply stated, there were 3 threat vectors in this mission, we had planned for 2 -- NE and NW threats -- the SW escort that engaged Fury was a complete surprise. We lost cohesion and as Poppy put it- we went from a 4 ship to 2 two ships, to 3 one ships -- this is how you loose control of the sky which we did.

IMHO: I think we should try to engage fixed infrastructure targets in the west, along the line toward Pyongyang. This will keep us from being flanked (as much) because our noses will be pointed toward the red airbases. We lost 4 airframes tonight, that's a going-out-of-business curve. If we clear a path to juicy targets by loading a mission or two with 2x SEAD/DEAD and 1x Escort we can strategically approach high value C&C, Supply, and Army targets that will drop their supply score and get us on the offensive.

Flight Role: Strike
Cowboy11: "Fisty" AA=0 AG=0 RTB (Crashed on landing) Cowboy12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=0 RTB (Crashed on landing) Cowboy13: "Sabre" AA=0 AG=0 TECH Cowboy14: "Poppy" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
On Ingress FL picked up a singleton contact about 20 left of scope at 60 miles NW. This would have factored on the flight plan, so seeing that the Escort was about 20 miles to the east and east of flight plan, FL soft locked and declared. AWACS confirmed the contact as hostile, so FL requested Escort to investigate. Shortly after, the contact faded, but may have been one of the 29s causing all the havoc later on. Sabre then reported a Tech with his throttle, so had to exit. No.3 (AI) was sent home. The rest of the flight then loitered about 20Nm south of the FLOT, but caught the attention of a couple of 29s on the RWR, which also seemed to jump into the inner circle on FL's RWR. This, along with ESC FL's directive to retrograde south meant we were well ahead of the curve when instructed to abort. We took a roundabout route to HOMEPLATE as FL wanted to take the runway with ILS support due to the rough weather. Unfortunately we were still too heavy with all our bombs and Fisty & Mango put it down too hard and crashed on landing. Fortunately, I'd cleared the runway before my frame exploded, leaving it clear for Poppy to execute a perfect inclement landing (don't you just hate that!) <- Just kidding mate :D
Oops, I almost forgot - MF since we didn't make it to the AO.
