Flight Role: ESCORT

Python12: Poppy AA=4 AG=0 RTB
Python13: Zipgun AA=4 AG=0 RTB
Python14: Wildcat AA=1 AG=0 KIA

We started getting engaged pretty soon, sooner than I would have wanted, with what seemed like bandits coming from NE, N & NW.

We did engage the initial wave and then the 2nd element continued to engaged another group coming from west.

We then had more coming from N-NW. While this happened the escort held back.

Unfortunately the number of bandits also hampered Serpent1.

When I ran out of Slammers, I passed command to Zipgun who took Poppy and went on to clear the skies north. Since there still were many bandits, after one last engagement, and they were cold, I called was very close to abort the mission.

Fortunately, by this time, the Strike was 30s away from release.

I also asked Serpent to support Lobo and continued cold.

I think the main conclusion is that we need to form up and be in a good position as a flight - and have a good SA as a package - to engage before we get to the FLOT.

Flight Role: SEAD
Serpent11: Fisty AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Serpent12: Mango AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Flight rejoined quickly after takeoff and achieved target altitude (280) shortly after. We heard Python engaging multiple targets ahead of us and followed the action on our FCRs, but then quickly we were drawn into a second engagement, coming from the west on our 9 o'clock. I could see that Python13 and 14 had turned hot but they were to our east, putting us between the hammer and the nail. We turned hot, threw a spear to get them worried, then cranked right and ran east, letting Python13 and 14 take over. Having escaped that engagement, we turned north, back onto track and Mango started scanning for radars, whilst I provided top-cover as Python were still engaged to the Northwest and West. The suspected SA-10s (our priority targets) to the North failed to turn up and Mango picked up 2 SA-11s and engaged 1, unfortunately we then had multiple enemy fighters inbound from the north, including what looked like a 4-ship SU30, some Mig29s and a 2-ship SU-27 for good measure. I threw my last spear at one of the 27s and winged it, sending him home with a trail of smoke and Mango engaged one of the SU-30s. I then fired both my Harms at 2 of 3 SA-11 sites we were tracking to the east of the STR target and despite the debrief giving a 0 result, reviewing the ACMI shows that I destroyed 1 of them. Shortly after this, Python reported clear skies (nice one lads!) so Mango fired his remaining Magnum, but unfortunately this also missed. Then we were tasked to scan North for incoming Eurofighters (despite us being down to 1 slammer). We picked them up and Mango fired his last missile at one of them. Unfortunately they evaded this and then locked me up. We ran south at gate and I requested a delouse. I don't know why but the EFs bugged out and we managed to lose them without Scruffy having to get us out of trouble (again). Uneventful landing, following Python1 in, but I forgot to fence us out before RTB, so we landed with no lights and Master Arm on (not that we had any weapons left to arm anyway, but lesson learnt). Despite our meagre results, suppression of the SA-11s allowed Lobo1 to drop their bombs - Mission Success.

Flight Role: Strike

Lobo13: Veiland AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Lobo14: Vosene AA=0 AG=1 RTB

We took off and climbed to FL250 and headed to SP3 at which point we fenced in. We could hear that Utopic et al were thoroughly enjoying themselves at the expense of the enemy and the American tax payer. We confirmed we were to hold at SP3 and set up an orbit.

We noticed a bunch of evil ne'er-do-wells in the form of MiG29A and F/A-18 approaching from the west so we headed out to the east and continued to orbit there.

Eventually Blue flight had created a gap for us to fly into and complete our task. Our hold position was some distance away from the target so we pushed the speed up a little to try and keep Blue's station keeping to a minimum.

Using JDAM 31-1's we launched in one pass and turned tail. Enemy aircraft were approaching from the north and we were getting SA-11 spikes form the airbase east of the target.

Once over the FLOT we had a call from Serpent for a de-louse. 3 and 4 turned to assist but the enemy had turned tail.

Landing was uneventful and Panther followed us in.

A good flight, comms were good, SA was good and support from Scruffy was good too.
