The vote this week has us on AI just over the FLOT in the central area.
Squadrons have been moved further north to save fuel as General Ironman now has enough stamps from the sale of AVGAS to buy a new car!
Air Interdiction in Sector A AI flights shall be Green (Panther 1) and Black (Python 1). Blue (Serpent 1) shall fly Escort duty. Black will fly from Hoengsong, while Green and Blueshall fly from Choongwon.
Package number is 15629.
The route is fixed for all, with all with the exception of target and CAP points for AI and Escort respectively. Timings are also important for the push point and the target.
For guidance, TOT for SP4 (SP3 for Black) with altitudes in brackets; Panther 1 (Green) : 15:31 (A22) Serpent 1 (Blue) : 15:27 (A28) Python 1 (Black) : 15:31 (A22)
for Target, TOT is; Panther 1 (Green) : 15:37 (A16) Serpent 1 (Blue) : 15:34 (A28) Python 1 (Black) : 15:37 (A16)
Weapon choice is free, with the usual exceptions.
Package lead on this shall be the Escort lead.
Fig 1 - Identity of Targets
From the image above I have identified that the main targets shall be:
3rd SP Guns Battalion - 22 targets 4 Corp Artillery Battalion - 32 targets 1st Tank Battalion - 14 targets 3rd Corp Artillery Battalion - 24 targets
The 1st Tank Battalion in the south is down to 2 x T-62 and no factor. The 1st HQ Battalion has 29 targets but is heavily defended by NH-5A and SA_13 SAMs as well as ZSU57-2 and ZSU23-4 flak batteries and is best avoided for now.
Mission Success AI - A minimum average for the flight of four kills per aircraft . Escort - No losses to AI flights from enemy air assets.
Partial Success AI - A minimum average for the flight of two kills per aircraft . Escort - One loss to AI flights from enemy air assets.
As the air picture is extremely good for us at present, the escort is permitted to take ground ordnance at the escort lead's discretion.
AWACs will be on station but may be out of range for info as you reach the northern most targets.
Happy flying.

SERPENT 1 Flight Role: ESCORT Serpent11: Poppy (*PC) AA=0 AG=0 RTB Serpent12: Vosene AA=0 AG=0 RTB Serpent13: Zipgun AA=0 AG=1 RTB Serpent14: Wildcat AA=0 AG=2 RTB
Mission Outcome: MS
Ingress was mailnly trying to get to the carrot but the package was rolex +4 which was fine. CAP setup was 1st element counter clockwise west of the AO and 2nd element clockwise north of the AO so we would be clear of threats from the ground and looking outwards (north and west resp.) The timing was tricky but everyone chipped in and it worked well. Picture clear and communicated on UHF. During playtime the picture remained clear, we had some Mi-24 calls and 1 persistant Su-25 on the east coast (no factor). We rejoined over Stp4 where there was AAA and #2 was forced defensive. We we're visual but a near collision happened because we got too close and lead did not deconflict where it might have been needed. Egress was timed, so the pattern would be clear over Choongwong which it wasn't; we saw a crash on 34L and 1 jet in the pattern. We extended 10miles for deconfliction and landed straight in. Overall good control of the AO skies, setup worked. Some point to take away for future reference.

Panther 1 Flight role AI Panther11: Ironman 0/0 RTB Panther12: Mango 0/0 RTB ? Panther13: Sabre 0/1 RTB ? Panther14: Fisty 0/1 RTB
Ingress good - technical before an just after take-off Target areas attacked with low/mixed results ACMI to review Good package comms - uneventful flight back to home plate 2 and 3 had poor landings.
All in all it was nice to not get mauled by Migs on a flight.
Ironman.

Flight Role: AI Python11: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=5 EJT Python12: "Zohrs" AA=0 AG=3 RTB Python13: "Floyd" AA=0 AG=2 then TECH
Mission Outcome: MS
A mission dogged by blue text and warping throughout. This hampered accurate attacks and caused me to lose concentration and fly too low. Dumb I know. I ended up with an SA-14 enema and that was game over for me. I was using Rockeyes and killed five targets with five bombs.
I know Zohrs hit two targets with two AGM-65Bs before he CTD'd.
Floyd managed to get all eight Mavs away but only hit 3 targets.
An interesting note is that his kills came after he abandoned the use of the TGP handoff method.

For Ironman/Griffin.
I've checked the ACMI and I have 3 definite ground kills (5 hits, but 2 were only damaged - the other 3 are greyed out and destroyed in the event list)
Sabre also had 3 confirmed kills, same sketch as above, except he only released 1 bomb.
If you like I can review the ACMI again and provide timings etc. Not sure why the debrief said only 1 ground kill each. |

@Fisty. If you haven't anything else pressing you could check the whole squadron and send me an e-mither. It would be helpful while I get the next mission ready.

Thanks Fisty. By the way there was a typo up there. I should have written "...could you..." instead of "...you could..."! Put's a whole different slant on that sentence. Sorry if any offence was caused.

Ironman, I didn't realise that Mugabee was from Yorkshire, until I noticed his name read backwards! ;-)

Not as well know as the famous rock band from Yorkshire "ELO" which is also a friendly greeting in Yorkshire - remember it if you visit (translation = Oh hello)
