We took off last after I had a minor tech issue, and formed up to push to SP2 at 26000. We were aiming for higher but couldn't make it at a decent speed (my speed management sucked on this flight).

The escort flights were at one point flanked and we orbited to await the outcome. Utopic then moved to AWACs which was priceless.

He gave my flight the all clear to proceed to our attack. By this time our flight had moved south of the flight path to stay out of the way. We then headed to our SP2, which was directly south of the targets by 20 miles. We split into two elements for separated attacks and, descending to 15000 and at 5 miles trail, we prosecuted our attacks. There were lots to choose from. Three out of four got all Mavs off in one pass, but one picked a target with low numbers and had to regroup and come in again. While he did that the rest of us went air to air. I called our availability and awaited the call for assistance. In the meantime Elmo killed three aircraft (2 x J-11 and a SU-30MKK). Once our ground attacks were completed we stayed around to do some more A-A but after getting fuel and weapons pictures for the package I called the RTB.

A good enjoyable mission.

Really sorry for the delay.

Important point about this flight was the proximity to enemy shooters on our flank. This was debriefed very well and I think the key point is that in the future we make sure our flight plan has plenty of separation from the enemy coast.

Also my choice to move the whole flight away from the enemy rather than just the lead elements was also a poor decision.

I was shot down very early on but Vosene took the lead and he and Scruffy had a good flight once i wss done makimg a mess of things ;) If Vosene has any additional points to debrief I would invite him to do so.

After several technical issues I managed to rejoin in flight, on the way to the target area. We didn't form properly because of getting in and out, but when we were close to doing it, we had contacts from the mainland. I was planning to ignore them while keeping them outside of their firing range, at our 3'o'clock.

It didn't work because even they were outside the threat ring and slow, they fired on the first element. Sharpe saw the missiles in the air and called them but it was too late for me to evade, and I blew up without even a chance to eject.

I'm happy that my reconnects didn't affect scores or ruin the experience of other people.

Ironman, if you can continue this stub of a briefing, and give me the correct scores, that would be great!

Points to add to Sharpe's debrief:

1. Agree on the planning point.

2. Issue between the 2 Escorts taking shots on same targets. It should be an SOP but a reminder that, ideally, all shots should be called on tactical but this isn't always possible due to saturated comms. As a minimum a Flight must call committed on a bandit group on tactical and when multiple flights are both engaging same group then all shots must be called on tactical.

3. We deliberately pressed inside the MAR at one point to engage bandits at medium aspect. Provide you can maintain the offensive this tactic works but you need to be wary about bandit turning hot and getting a shot away.

4. Great flying by Scruffy, stayed on my wing, cleared my six and got another RTB.
