Flight leads in this Sunday's official campaign mission, "Strong DPRK 16" (Griffin, Ironman and Sharpe) are requested to post a debrief of their flights actions, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.
Please put the following information at the top of your post:

Fairly busy mission over the target (usual issue of the Ai spinning up lots of interceptors coupled with aircraft heading to the FLOT or back from the FLOT).
Package coms during the flight were very good. Internal green flight comms when the balloon went up were not so good.
Ultimately I made the abort call despite the AWACS declaration of picture clear as the RWR was telling a very different picture.
I think perhaps the penetration missions with only a handful of aircraft (no Ai support either) are going to be a tall order, but I don’t think it’s worth throwing the towel in on the campaign as there is still plenty of CAS we can try our hand at around the FLOT.
Learning point for all: Human AWACS might not always have the true air picture.

After a bit of bother with AI on the ground we took off and fell into line with Fury. We spotted the enemy over bullseye and sensibly steered clear.
Once at SP3 we kept station with Fury and pushed north.
The picture approaching the target area was relatively clear, with only one contacted noted. Then it was like someone had turned the lights on as there were lots of contacts to contend with. We operated in a wagon wheel and successfully took a number of aircraft down.
My RWR wasn't set up for AA-12 (R77) warning and I was downed on my second engagement. (I later read that I had two of them fired at me as did Floyd, but he got away with it.  )
I saw most of the remaining action from the 2D screen but the remaining three aircraft manfully dispatched multiple aircraft before the RTB call was given.
Perhaps Floyd, Veiland or Utopic can add more.
As for AWACs, the picture looked relatively clear on the west coast, but the targets that popped up were probably out of range of the in sim AWACs which were far out to the east of Korea.
A shame we couldn't get the job done and perhaps with more escorts and stand off weapons we may have been able to do some damage.

Well the squad seemed to take for ever to get airborne ... we were first up and had to do 2x360 turns to allow for formation.
Comms were good - SA was good all round - we swung south to avoid CAP over bulls eye. we had eyes low to the west of track.
Once Python called us into the fight it was over pretty quick for me I was in the middle of the pack and rather ironically I called Poppy to re-join as he was becoming isolated when the big M started flashing went CAT 1 but to no avail.
Poppy and Zipgun did exceptionally well to get 7 bad guys between then before they became - like everyone else - overwhelmed ... well done to utopic how also got 3 kills after volunteering to join the other flight.

Had tech issue with my helios/saitek control panel on the night, learning for me check the three gear lights have gone off on take off... Easy mistake but cost me and my package. Only benefit RTB safely, believed this to be the correct action to return in one piece, after all having the landing gear down and stuck is not the same as CAT 1.... :-)
