Flight Role: OCA Strike
Cowboy11: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=2 RTB
Cowboy12: "Novac" AA=0 AG=3 RTB
Cowboy13: "Crowebar" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Cowboy14: "Flying Stone" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

Mission Outcome: PS

Took off and climbed to A27 in offset box. Flew to 10nm outside the SA-6 threat circle and orbited until the air picture was clear and that I had heard the SAMs being attacked. Following confirmation that the SA-2 at the target was down, we descended to grass top level to stay under any SA-6 threats. As I crested the hill before the target I saw multiple SA-6 launches at Weasel and Falcon (AI). Luckily the SAMs ignored us and we successfully reached the target with only small arms fire (no effect).

All but one of the targets required for mission success were destroyed, with one hangar left intact.

We kept low off target until feet wet, then climbed, regrouped and headed back to home plate.

Good job by my flight, staying together and executing the mission well. Especially well done to Flying Stone who did it without the benefit of IVC.

A really good mission Novac. Worth waiting for...

I'm leaving this one to Skal as I wasn't paying too much attention after stuck to the silk... :( Also, kindly retroactively give him the flightlead bonus as he did a lot of flightleading in that mission.

Flight Role: Escort
Viper11: "Blade" AA=0 AG=0 EJT
Viper12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Viper13: "Skal" AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Viper14: "Wolfman" AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS

2nd remained 8nm in trail. 1st element engaged 2 ship MiG-29, Blade evaded 2 missiles and fired on lead but it managed to evade the missile. Blade wasn't as lucky and got hit by the enemies 3rd missile and ejected. 2nd element engaged shortly before Blade got hit and shot down the lead MiG-29. Mango was in trail and the 2nd MiG-29 was low aspect going cold (in relation to 2nd element), advised Mango to engage if able, however was engaged by SEAD before he turned hot.

Proceeded toward target approx. 50nm out turned 30 degrees left to check for any MiG-29 activity stationed at base north of target and to let SEAD destroy SA2. Turned hot back on target at 40nm and engaged 2x MiG-23 North of target and destroyed 1x MiG-23. Turned to engage 2nd MiG-23, declared with Chalice however 2nd MiG was on the arse of another F-16 and was declared hostile, fired on friendly but broke lock as soon as heard AI comms. Fortunately missile missed and only damaged friendly. Decided to regroup Viper flight over the water just outside AD threat as by this point radar was saturated by friendly a/c. Advised by Chalise 2 ship MiG-29 East of target in hot, engaged and destroyed 1x MiG-29 immediately after went defensive against barrage of SA6. Turned to engage second MiG however already engaged by SEAD. Mango RTB with low fuel with Strike and SEAD. Had a few calls from Chalice regarding distant targets but did not get within threat range. RTB

Apology to Chalice for hectic comms, kept on pressing VHF and a big thanks to all for job well done.

Interestingly, 4 of 6 AGM-45s fired scored a hit. That is 66,6666%, which is above the RW average for this kind of missile. An explanation for that is may be related to the fact that some of us were using HTS to launch the Shrikes. I think Utopic, who missed both missiles, did not use it. I used PB and TOO in my launches.

Another aspect: The pk of AIM-120 when used in combat, with non optimal sorting, launch parameters etc, was for SEAD flight extremely high, in my opinion. 6 airplanes destroyed with 9 missiles (66.6666%). Congratulations Blue flight! Compare to the fligt lead by Blade/Skal: 2 kills of 9 missiles. Certainly room to improve here. We will work on that in 2014.

And more interesting than anything else!!!!! The Pk for all weapons used by the SEAD was 66,666666....hummm the number of the beast!!!!

Cheers!

All that 666 stuff has got me freaked out

I find it hard to believe now-one got hit with all that SAM activity!
7 Aircraft at high alt inside the threat circles and you all came out

I think the "Good Guy" from above was looking after you on that one.

Pity we didn't have an ACMI of that one Eh, Guys..........
