Flight Role: ESCORT Fury11: "utopic" AA=3 AG=0 TECH Fury13: "zipgun" AA=0 AG=0 EJT
Mission Outcome: MS
As soon as we took off (on time ) we referenced stpt2 and tried to get into formation. Didn't have such luck as we were spiked by a 2ship of Mig29S. By that time, I had managed to climb to A20, Zipgun only managed to climb to A15. None of us were fenced in.
I shot, notched and turned cold. Zipgun did the same but he had a R77 inbound which took him out. In retrospective, Zipgun said we should have dragged the bandits and let Falcon flight take them out and I agree.
I continued the flight, escorting the strike package on the south side of the path and got into 2 more engagements and managed to shoot 2 more bandits and overall I think the package was safe.
When getting close to the target area, because the SA10 and SA2 were in the way, I loitered around the threat circles and then decided to anchor north of the SA2 threat circle, while keeping an eye out for a single Su27 that was heading north-west, away from our AO.
Around that time I had an error and when I got to the desktop I saw a message from the IVC client saying that there was an issue with the IVC server or other connection issues.
Tiag suggested I jump back into an AI seat, and although I could connect to the server just fine, the IVC client popped the same error on the 2 attempts I made. I gave up rejoining the mission.
I then thought of testing the connection and connected to 2 other servers (with IVC) and I could connect just fine. I then re-tried to come back to our server and made a successful connection - no more IVC error - but by this time people were already exiting.
Nice mission, Floyd! Zipgun, if you care to contribute with your comments on the engagement... :) And guys, if you have suggestions for me on comms or whatever, I'm keen to hear them. |

Panther 1 SEAD 1.1 Mango AA 0 AG 1 RTB 2 AI AG 1 RTB 3 Reds AA1 AG 0 RTB 4AI RTB
Took off to angels 28 and stayed behind the escorts who cleared the skies for our ingress. In the second AA encounter got to close and 3 shot down a Su27. The other sead flight tried to engage the SA10 and not being sure it was hit asked us to assist, the SA10 was not showing on the had so we could not. Then we were asked to assist with the SA2 ,1 fired at it but hit a Roc SA2 which was strange. 1 and 2 then engaged the 2 SA6s near the target, as fragged, and turned for home as were winchester at that time. Learning point: Zipgun was awacs and I did not contact him to coordinate RTB which I should have. Fun mission Floyd ,thanks.

Some technical difficulties with Wolfman leaving and rejoining the game which caused confusion on the status of the SA 10. Sabre first Harm missed and his second destroyed a fence. Sorry fence.
Having instructed every pilot in the flight to attack the SA 10, it still appeared to be active when in fact Wolfman had killed it. I asked Panther flight to assist, a few minutes later the SA 10 went off screen and Panther resumed as fragged.
Sabre received a warning from Tiag about some very close Su 27's and hightailed it out of there with two AA-12 giving him extra incentive. Thanks Tiag.

We were loaded with JDAMs for precision attacks on the six warehouses. We flew at a relatively safe distance behind the escorts, eventually having to orbit about 10 miles outside the SA-10 circle.
Once cleared we went in and delivered our ordnance. We scored three initial kills with collateral damage inflicting a further one by the time we got to the debrief. The other two targets were damaged.
Lessons learned: When orbiting inform your flight of the bank angle and throttle position/fuel flow.
Learn how to release JDAMs at multiple targets correctly. Both bombs dropped from my aircraft before I had time to change targets.
A really good mission Floyd and great support from the four escort flights.
