Flight Role: (Strike)
Viper11: "Floyd" AA=1 AG=1 RTB
Viper12: "Novac" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Viper13: "Griffin" AA=1 AG=1 RTB
Viper14: "Mango" AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Mission Outcome: mission success

We agreed to split targets between elements and #1+#3 should attack the first
element on the list while #2+#4 attack the last element on the list.
The first target at wpt 4 was no problem, except that #2 experienced a CTD
and #1 overshot and had to do a 360. After that we shot down two MiG-25
and proceeded along the flight path to the target bridge at wpt 7, where #3
destroyed 10 bridge elements and left nothing do hit for his wingman.

#4 got fuel critical and was detached to land while the others started a CAP
over the landing field, when Weasel flight called for help against incoming MiGs.
The flight turned around and shot down two MiG-29A.

The landing was uneventful. Overall a very good mission, although some
technical problems produced a few hickups at the beginning.

I made a stupid mistake... when Utopic and I were engaged against some MiG-25, after I shot off two slammers I kinda concentrated on re-joining with my lead rather than concentrating on my own mortality. The MiG-25s cover a lot of miles in a short space of time. After Utopic was shot down I realised I had made a mistake trying to rejoin.

Damn you Jester - "You never, ever leave your wingman"... Hmmm, okay.

It's not your fault, Homer, if it's anyone's, it's mine: as lead, I should be taking care of myself AND the #2 buddy.

What happened was that I was trying to get a burn-thru on a close, low(?) jamming contact and was unaware of more contacts. When you asked weapons free, I then realized we had bigger trouble, so I dropped that and looked further to spot your group and a second left group. Since you committed on the right one, I committed on the left one.

However, I got a lock at 21nm, and by the time I fired we(my bandits and me) were already at ~17nm. Because I wasn't head on to your group, I had no ECM cover against them, so one 25 got a lock and shot a long range heater at me.

The #2 bandit from my group survived the engagement with me and shot you down: he fired a missile at you at ~9nm which I'm not sure you were aware of, and a second one at 5.8nm which got you.

So, I'd say there are several things that went wrong, but the main one was lack of proper SA.

I am curious, tho', did you fire one slammer at each 25 in your group?

Yes mate, I did. I was pretty sure I was able to get a lock on both and shot one slammer at each, after which I offset to re-join with you and support 'til Pitbull. Killed one and damaged the other.

DRAFT

Flight Role: (Strike)
Weasel11: "Sabre" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Weasel12: "Jack" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Weasel13: "Zipgun" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Weasel14: "Wolfman" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

Mission Outcome: mission success

Aimed to split flight at stpt 4 with element 1 attacking Sangu bridge at Stp5 and element 2 proceeding direct to Euisong Bridge at stp 8.

Some technical difficulties with Jacks connection, but he managed to rejoin.

Engaged the targets successfully but found 2 and 4's targets were shown as damaged in the debrief because the target was already classed as destroyed.

Returned to base, minor confusion because Sabre hadn't read the briefing and wasn't aware we were returning to the same airfield. Wolfman sorted him out. Orbited field until flight landed and then landed myself.

No real drama's, other than a slightly disconcerting feeling that we weren't in the same game due to technical issues.
