Flight Role: ESCORT Fury11: "Griffin" AA=2 AG=0 RTB Fury12: "Karet" AA=0 AG=0 RTB Fury13: "Ghostrider" AA=0 AG=0 RTB Fury14: "Floyd" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Mission Outcome: MS
Took off and climbed to A30. Noting in the skies but friendlies, including Mig29s, which was to prove confusing.
As we approached the edge of the SA-2 threat circle which was covering the main target, we were faced with many jamming threats on the radar. While it was difficult to get a lock, the situation was further confused by number of AI friendlies entering the area too.
We wanted Falcon to take care of the target SA2 but it wasn't emitting and so they couldn't kill it. That said it wasn't a factor in the end.
Cowboy pushed ion to the target while we kept the enemy occupied with an aggressive chainsaw patrol.
When the main target was destroyed we escorted Cowboy to the next target. I sent 3 and 4 in to help Falcon who were chasing an Su27 out to sea, but when it went cold and Cowboy were heading home I called them back and advised Falcon to do the same.
No other event occurred on the way home and all returned in one piece.
Lesson learned; 1. If you're not 100% sure of the target don't shoot. 2. Good comms are priceless.
Good mission Floyd. Kept us guessing in the hot zone.

Flight Role: SEAD ESCORT Falcon11: "Utopic" AA=0 AG=1 RTB Falcon12: "Owl" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Mission Outcome: MS
Took off and climbed to A25. On route we hear about enemies in the target area so we take a detour until Griffin asks for assistance with taking out the SA2 at the target. We turn to target, and on the way we're constantly getting SA2 spikes from the SA2 up to the NorthWest. Even though this wasn't the initial plan, I ask #2 to take that one out and I concentrate on the SA2 at target (which wasn't visible). #2 takes a shot at NW SA2, and it stops bugging us, so I assume a successful shot.
I make several calls describing the situation and letting everyone know that there is no SA2 active at target.
Owl, help me out here, at what did you fire the second Harm, I can't remember for the love of... :)
I engage the SA4 while Owl provides cover for me (good job, BTW) and since at that point there still was no active SA2 at target, I engage the emitting SA17. SA6 (which was closer) doesn't get active until I trespass quite a bit.
Then I get recommendation from Griffin to RTB, so we do.
Guys, (Owl included) if you have any constructive criticism, I'd very well love to hear it (on calls, formation, engagement, judgement, anything).
Lesson STILL not learned: I AGAIN left AV system on AUTO and have a couple of useless recordings. |

Flight Role: STRIKE Cowboy11: Homer AA=0 AG=1 RTB Cowboy12: Jack AA=0 AG=0 RTB Mission Outcome: SUCCESS
Easy climb out to Angels 20, where we did a slow racetrack over Koksan while the Escort and SEAD guys did their stuff. As it was quite busy overhead, I made the decision to press on in the hope that the enemies overhead would be busy enough to ignore us. Plan worked perfectly, and we got to the target unharassed. Jack went first but missed the release point, I followed close after and dumped all 6 Snake-eyes on the bridge in one pass. We headed south to have a go at the secondary and Jack managed to put a couple bombs on a bridge, but not the right one.
No matter - job was done and we headed home. All in all, a well-executed plan and overall mission success.
Lessons - need to teach Jack how to use Precision Waypoints and CCRP and also encourage him to use "one pass and haul ass" AG settings. His airmanship is excellent - can hold a formation as good as any and interflight comms is better than mine, we just need to get his weapons on target ratio up.
Another very enjoyable mission to fly. |
