Flight Role: (STRIKE)
Gypsy31: "Vaughan" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Gypsy32: "Blade" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

Mission Outcome: MS

We took off and climbed to A25. Loitered about 20nm beyond steerpoint 2 until the SA6 and two SA2s had been disabled, then proceeded towards the target. Circled again between steerpoints 2 and 3 while Serpent2 disabled the SA2 and SA3 in the target area. Serpent2 asked if we were able to attack the target while the SA3 was still active, and I confirmed that we were.

About 20nm outside the SA3 threat circle, we descended to 500ft. I was spiked by the SA3 on the way down, so we increased our descent rate. We used terrain masking on ingress to the target, flying at about 500kts. We popped up, dropped our GBUs and turned back towards home. The SA3 was still occasionally painting me on egress, so we stayed low until 10nm beyond the SA3 circle and then power climbed to A25.

RTB was fairly uneventful for us, with Hunter4 and Serpent2 clearing the path for us. We turned slightly south to avoid an engagement, but were quickly vectored to base by Lumper as there were more bandits to the south of us.

All in all an excellent TE, well executed. Superb support from the SEAD and Escort flights and fantastic picture from Lumper.

Flight Role: Escort
Hunter 41: "mango" AA=1 AG=0 EJT
Hunter 42: "AI"
Hunter 43: "Griffin" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Hunter 44: "AI"

Mission Outcome: MS

Firstly please bear with this as I didn't get a debrief and my PC crashed as I was taxing off the runway, so some of this debrief is guesswork.

We were first to take off and Mango took us to high angels straight away as we had SU-30 threats fairly close that needed dealing with. He and his wingy took them down but both were shot down in the process.

Me and my AI wingy pushed on to attack some approaching M29As. One was hit and the other was dealt with by a flight behind me (?)

We attacked two more M29As and they were destroyed, I believe with some assisitance from the SEAD Escort.

By this time we wee approaching an SA-6 envelope and held station until it and the SA-2 behind it was dispatched by Serpent 2.

We moved on to the target area. No further bandits arose and we held station outside the SA-3 envelope until the Strike flight had completed it's task.

All during this time Lumper in Chalis was keeping me appraised of threats to the west and north incase we had to engage them to cleaar the way home for the remaining aircraft.

One of these flight to the NE ended up trying to flank us but with a BRA from Lumper (oo-er) we found the single remaining Mig29A and shot at him. So did Serpent 2 and they got the kill.

With F-14's covering the area we split and landed safely at home plate.

The comms and mutual support in this mission was excellent and all went very well.

It also proved to me that we can put a lot more into our TE's in the way of threats and still have a fun workable mission.

Part two of this TE to come...

Flight Role: SEAD Escort
Serpent 21: "Floyd" AA=2 AG=2 RTB
Serpent 22: "AI"
Serpent 23: "Elmo" AA=0 AG=2 KIA

After takeoff we had two groups of bandits 50nm on
the nose and had to wait for the escort to clear the
path. The second group was a pair of SU-25, #1 shot
one down; the second turned cold.

Nearing the SAM sites #3 took out the southern SA-2
and the SA-6; #1 the northern SA-2 and the package could
proceed.

The target area was covered by an SA-2 that the AI
engaged and destroyed, and an SA-3 with a depot nearby.
#1 engaged and destroyed the depot's radar.

Now out of HARM, #3 engaged the SA-3 with guns, but
crashed into the ground.

The STRIKE agreed to attack the target low level and
bypassed the SA-3.

On the way back a single MiG-29a attacked and was
shot down.
