Okay,

I had enough responses to my options e-mail to ensure the event goes ahead in some form and have committed to it with Bob from RC Simulations so we are in. Check here for details (note although the date is wrong the confirmed exhibitors list is up to date):

http://www.fs-show.com/exhibitors.htm

Two things to decide now are accommodation and size of the event.

Currently I have 7 people committed to going and 1 probable. If we're going for a 4-6 computer setup I need those people bringing computers and LAN equipment to arrive the evening before to setup. Those people are:

Sabre, Peebs, Reds and Kai

This would give us 6 computers. If a couple more people volunteer to bring a computer then we could go for a full 8 computer setup, which would at least match our Sunday nights. People not bringing computer equipment could arrive on the Saturday if they wanted but are also more than welcome to arrive on the Friday.

What I need to know from everyone attending is what day you intend to arrive because if not enough people are arriving on the Friday we will drop down to a 2 computer setup and everyone will arrive on the Saturday. I also need to know what your price range preference for accommodation is.

Kai has suggested a guest house near the venue with a cost of around £22.50 per head per night but we would need to get taxis to and from Bristol on the Friday and Saturday evenings, which would increase the cost somewhat. Alternatively we can looking for somewhere closer to town but this might cost around £30-£40 per person per night depending on the deal I can get.

Whatever accommodation we go for I would like to get everyone in the same place for logistical and camaraderie reasons. Also if anyone would like to suggest a specific hotel/guest house that they know is okay and good value (looks at Reds) then let me know.

Finally I need a volunteer to design some TEs/mini-campaign especially for the event and run it on the day. I would suggest the Korea theatre (or even Panama if it is MP stable) due to the short transit time. We could even try to arrange it so that Flight Leads for the next flight plan it while the previous mission is being flown and then simply brief their flight on what is going to happen as this would save considerable planning time but reduce the number of pilot participating in all but the final mission.

As for getting accommodation , its tricky for me . Its hard to recommend a pub or a B & B let alone a restaurant etc . If you want to enter the city center expect prices above that of London . I can point you in the right direction but your all paying the bills so its down to personal preferance . If i had my way you can all stay at mine but the Mrs has a big say about that . I know some cheap hotels and reasonable taxi prices . Or we can head close to the centre of Bristol where life costs a fortune and go to Pubs in center of Bristol and pay £3.50 a pint or we go to working mans Pubs and pay a usual £2.00 a pint in a suburb outside the centre . It all depends on a visitors preference . Bristol is a big place and after 20 years i still get lost . Tell me the type of day/weekend you want and i can go from there .

Oh did i mention England 3 - Russia 0

Yep guy's dont stay where Ghost and Tracer stayed , i'll let them explain why . To be honest its impossible for me to recommend any digs in Bristol cos i've always lived in a house hehehe , so i cant help there . Oh and Homer , Fantastic job from your boys beating France . With any luck all the home sides will qualify for the finals and i get other teams to back when England drop out . :)

I would go for the B&B option. Don't think taxis will cost more than you would save against hotel prices.

regards,

Due to the lack of response to my repeated requests for information and no one volunteering to make the TEs I have withdrawn from organising the event.

If anyone else would like to organise it please contact me by e-mail before 2000 UK on Monday 17 September otherwise I will contact Bob and tell him there will be no official 185th stand.
