BMS 4.35.2

Objective

Destroy enemy units in kill boxes West and East. Backup killbox South can be used if there are insufficient targets in main kill boxes - Package Commander to coordinate. The is no dedicated Escort for this flight but a human AWACS should be available. Package is responsible for own self protection. Friendly ground units may be expected in both Western and Eastern kill boxes. All aircraft MUST confirm targets are not friendly before engaging.

IMPORTANT

To enable you to speak to and hear from the Human AWACS you must make the following change:

Open your IVC.ini file located in ..\Falcon BMS 4.35\Bin\x64\IVC folder, make the following changes:

Ensure you take a backup copy of the default ini file so you can revert back to this if required.

Note you must make sure you remove # from any line you want to enable otherwise it will just be treated as a text comment and not enabled in sim.

Change
#outsiders = seat
to
outsiders = all

Package 1982

HAMMER6 - AI - 4x F-16C-50. Destroy enemy units in kill box West. Priority is armour.

COBRA5 - AI - 4x F-16C-50. Destroy enemy units in kill box East. Priority is armour.

MS: (Non-JSOW) At least 2 enemy armoured units destroyed per human aircraft. Maximum 0 losses to package from enemy action.

PS: (Non-JSOW) At least 1 enemy unit destroyed per human aircraft. Maximum 1 loss to package from enemy action.

If JSOW are employed MS/PS criteria will be reassessed before mission is flown.

I figured I would write a debrief here so you can all learn a bit about working with a human AWACS using F4RADAR, and how it differs from the AI AWACS we are familiar with. I am working on a guide for using F4RADAR.

I will primarily be responding to your picture/declare/bogey dope calls. Keep in mind, I am not AI, so it may take a few seconds to formulate my reply. AI AWACS will always be quicker off the mark particularly with "declare" calls.

This is an example of what I see when acting as AWACS.

You will note that at this point in time I am only seeing Hammer61 and Cobra51 of the human pilots. I should be able to see all of you, and I am not sure if it is a bug, or lag/performance issue, or just the fog of war.

I can see your heading, altitude (in 'flight level' - first number), and ground speed (second number). The line coming out of the box is the heading and the length an indicator of speed. There are white dots showing the history of position (when available).

Green and red circles are friendly and enemy ground forces. Each circle is a battalion, and if I mouse-over, it gives me the primary unit type (eg: T-55, M1A1, AK-47).

If I have loaded the mission ini file into my DTC, I will see the PPT lines and PPT threat circles (yellow). You can see the FLOT, killboxes, and a couple of Patriot and a Hawk threat circle in the picture.

The blue box on the left is the data table. It has a reference to all the aircraft currently being tracked. Friendlies have all information shown. "Bogeys" have limited information which can change over time. For example, Bogey208 is in the table but not in the current zoomed location of the map. I had seen Bogey208 earlier and at that time it had the ID of "2 x MG29". It is interesting to note that if Bogey208 is ever lost by the radar, when it is picked up again it will still be Bogey208. I am not sure if this is a cheat, or based on assumption from location. Either way, I wrote down on my notepad "Bogey208 = 2x Mig29" so I would know what it was if the ID-type was ever lost (which it was).

You can see in the picture that there are two red aircraft Bogey392. They aren't even in the blue data table, but referring to my notes, I can tell you they are Mig-29s. You can see from the history track that they are a 2-ship that have just split.

I can NOT see if friendlies have engaged hostiles or vice versa. I have to make assumptions on this. It looks like Vulture1 may have just engaged Bogey392 in the picture above. I can see the mission type for friendlies so that helps me know whether they are likely to engage bandits or ignore them. @Fisty, on your way home you asked for declare of a strober between you and the alternate. I could see that it was Caddy4, EWS/EJ, 1 x F18.

Took off and ingressed at 20,000' then got into trail about 40 miles out from IP. almost immediately picked up a pair of Mig19s hot from the south at about 30 miles. Since they were on a direct intercept course, we engaged so as not to allow them to become a problem later and made short work of them. #2 then picked up the wingman from Cobra's engagement with the Mig29 2-ship and shot it down. By this time we were already fuel low (having dispensed with wing tanks like Cobra - lesson: don't be greedy) and with some unintentional dry runs we only managed to get off a few bombs each. Straight forward direct recovery to the alternate. Thanks to Pegasus for the AWACS cover.

MS/PS/MF

The 4 things a wingman is allowed to say:

1.Two
2.Lead, you're on fire.
3.I'm bingo fuel.
4.I'll take the fat one.... :/

Took and headed to IP at SP5. Had one AA engagement with a singleton MiG29S that was shot down by myself. We were then advised to go south for safety. We didn't have to do that for long before getting the all clear to proceed.

We found that we were on top of our targets fairly quickly and had a couple of dry runs because of that. We prosecuted the attacks but were running critically low on fuel (as we sacrificed wing tanks for a centreline) and when finished we headed for the alternate airbase, landing safely.

We had some issues with bombs not releasing correctly, eg we were set up for ripples of four bombs but only two came off, regardless of keeping the pickle button pressed. I also had an issue with IVC where I could not hear Pegasus performing his AWACs role.
