Sunday's target is Rishiri Airport.

Package 1283
MUDHEN1 - 4ship SEAD - #1 ???
MUSTANG7 - 2ship Escort - #1 Noodle
COBRA7 - 2ship Strike - #1 Fisty

Rishiri has Mig-29G currently on QRA over north Hokkaido and is defended by 3xSA-4 launchers and a HQ batallion. Rishiri Airport is also right behind a volcano (Mount Rishiri) which should help us with terrain masking.

I would like to put my hand up for leading a flight - perhaps just the 2-ship to start, or the element of a 4-ship.

This is the approach angle from our homebase, so definitely can approach hidden.

Also, there is an adjacent Rishiri Army Base with 64 attack helicopters (48 Mi-24 and 16 KA-50).

Flight Role: SEAD

Viper 61 "Griffin" AA=2 AG=1, EJT
Viper 62 "Mango" AA=1 AG=0, EJT
Viper 63 "Vosene" AA=2 AG=2, RTB
Viper 64 "Pegasus" AA=2 AG=0, RTB

MF

Escort was down to one aircraft due to a tech so my No4 was on standby to drop stores and act as Cyborg 72 if needed.

Escort was busy straight away but we managed to move north fairly well thanks to AI intervention with Noodle. I gave 2 and 3 the nod to go heads down to take the SA-15 battalion (No2) and the SA-4 (No3). 2 managed to get his SDB's away then he and 3 were caught up in a group of bandits. R-77s were launched and No2 was shot down. Unfortunately he backed out of the 3D world while his SDBs were still in flight and they disappeared. A waste. He did kill one of the bandits and Vosene took out two of them. I came in to help and killed one.

That engagement over I pushed north to launch my HARMs, killing a search radar at the SA-4 site (actually the air base's) and damaging one at the HQ battalion. No3 was moving west so that he could see his target past the island's mountain. He only managed to get one away that killed two ground targets including one of the S-4 radars, before we were engaged with enemy air again. I managed to get one more kill before low level MiG 29Gs got me.

3 and 4 managed to escape and RTB.

SA was poor on this flight due to splitting roles and that the IDM did not work properly.

Golden Rule reminder. If you are shot down you MUST stay in the 3D world until the mission is over for everyone. Only then may you leave to the debrief screen. NEVER EARLIER.

CYBORG71 "Noodle" AA=4 AG=0, EJT
CYBORG72 "Jules" AA=0 AG=0, TECH

#2 initially had no sound in 3D world and had to recommit several times before the issue was fixed.
This created other issues and the escort was now down to a singleton after calling a tech for #2.

First error: The escort flight should've been an experienced 2-ship or a 4-ship, I should have called this on the ground, asking for Pegasus as #2. Instead I asked for the first available SEAD ship to join me once dakota.

Picture was busy on the W and NW from the beginning, fortunately some friendlies were around and managed it.
Requested VIPER6 to keep the N picture safe while I was sorting out the W then recommitted on bandits coming from N.
Managed to get a couple but requested delouse from VIPER6. This engagement was well managed and I think this was our only window of opportunity to hit the airbase. Second error: Strike flight should have been holding closer to target area.
2x 2-ship 29s took off from the airbase while W and NE were getting busy again.
VIPER6 got bounced but these low 29's, cleared a few of them but I was now bingo weapons. I also engaged a Su-25 coming from the NE, should've saved this slammer.
JAGUAR2 came to support VIPER6 but was also bounced.

Several issues with data link made SA harder than usual with the amount of red air, I called Miller time once heard VIPER6 and JAGUAR two abort or miller time.
