We are to continue SAM Suppression in and around the city of Sur. Primary targets for Israeli forces are SA-8 and other SHORADs.

For USAF forces, an SA-6 battalion has been spotted to the north of the city (PPT57) which is also to be destroyed. Secondary targets are an SA-17 battalion approximately 40 miles east (PPT56) which should only be engaged after successful destruction of the primary, and if ordnance allows.

NB - HARM missiles should only be used against long range radar guided threats, do not waste this valuable resource against short range units.

Package 8365

Serpent1 is 4-ship AI flight, USAF F-16CM-52
Python1 is 4-ship AI flight, Israeli F-16I-52+ CFT
Shark1 is a 4-ship TARCAP flight, Israeli F-16I-52+ CFT

Mission success:
Serpent1: Destruction of 1 x Long Range SAM radar per human pilot, MUST INCLUDE SA-6 North of Sur.
Python1: Destruction of 3 x SA-8 in the vicinity of Sur.
Shark1: No losses to either AI flight by enemy airborne threats.

Mission Partial:
None

All flights are taking off from Hatzerim. Python and Shark are of the 107th, Serpent are of the 4329th.

IDM will be from Serpent1, who are Package Commander.

Timings:

Flight Task TO PP TOT IDM VHF	TACAN	FL

Serpent1 AI 10:10	10:23	10:31 2 2	16/79	250
Python1 AI 10:12	10:25	10:30 1 1	11/74	180
Shark1 TARCAP	10:14	10:24	10:29 3 3	21/84	220

Flight paths and weapons are free (ROE prohibit the use of JSOWs, SDBs and Spice1000/P weapons in the campaign).

The weather is poor at home plate and fair at the target with a cloud base at 30k MSL.

Mango - Tech

MS

Plan - Engage SA-6 over target then engage SA-2s to the East.

Execution

No 3 had a Tech CTD on entering pit and could not enter.

No 1 and 2 proceeded to target. No 1 engaged possible SA-6 with HARM but later confirmed it wasn't an SA-6 but a Fire Can. The Sa-6 never showed on RWR or HAD.

Flight then proceeded South and then round to the East to avoid mass of aircraft over FLOT.

No 2 engaged SA-2 then No 1 engaged an SA-2, 2x Fan-Song destroyed to achieve a Mission success.

While No 1 was heads down engaging SA-2, flight were engaged by pair of MiG-21. No 1 managed to get a bandit off No 2's tail and then No 2 was able to splash the bandit that was on No 1's tail. No 1 then had the second bandit on his six and while executing hard break No 2 fired a Slammer but the bandit was killed by 2 Patriot missiles before his Slammer arrived.

Flight then RTB and executed overhead break recovery. Recommended to set QFE at Hatzerim due to difference in height and altitude between QFE and QNH at this airfield and lack of visual ground reference in desert to judge height.

Recommended A2A mix includes IR weapons as, due to the number of aircraft, it is easy to get in a furball.

Need to keep visual lookout much more in this Theatre, both for traffic avoidance and threat tally.

Flight Role: AI
Python11: "Utopic" AA=1 AG=11 RTB
Python12: "Zipgun" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Python13: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=2 RTB
Python14: "Floyd" AA=0 AG=3 RTB

MS

After taking off, when heading to stpt 4, Zipgun asked for a steerpoint data since his steerpoints were off.

Other than that, getting to the target was uneventful. We begun engaging as planned, flew the circuit and had 4 passes.

Zipgun was unable to hit anything, probably due to corrupted laser codes.

SA8 as per the brief were hard to find, with Floyd being the only one managing to take out 3 while the rest of us engaged targets of opportunity in our kill box.

While regrouping for RTB we stumbled upon a 2ship Su24 which we took out.

Landed without any issues.

Good flight overall, good choice of weapons, and good steerpoints setup.
