Tonight members of our illustrious squadron took part in an inaugural 3 way match with the 53rd Warhammers and the Bengal Tigers. A very successful evening was enjoyed by all participants, with thanks due to James Hallett (aka Woppa) of the 53rd Warhammers for organising the event.
Our team for the evening was Focus (captain), Fiero, Tiger and Hog and they all acquitted themselves with honour.
The format for the match was a 2 V 2 force on force Tactical engagement, with 4000 Victory Condition points required to win. There were 2 ground targets available to each side (an infantry unit and a runway) both worth 1000 points each, with 1000 points for shooting down 1 of the enemy, and 2000 points for taking out the 2nd member of the opponents team. 30 minutes were allowed for planning with the clock continually running and the excitement started to build.
In the 1st match Tiger and Fiero took on the 53rd Warhammer pairing of Black Night and Bengo. The 185th team flew very low and got in behind the enemy, taking both out after a dogfight before nailing their ground targets and making it him to base for a 4000 to 1000 points win for the 185th.
In the second match, Focus and Hog took on the Bengal Tigers pair and started well by hitting both of the ground targets. However, Hog suffered a problem with the Ventrilo hot key conflicting with Falcon such that he had to rejoin the game, which caused a critical separation of the 185th pairing which meant that they lost the ensuing dogfight as they were unable to give mutual support. The Bengal Tigers team landed safely for a 4000 to 2000 points victory.
The event was much enjoyed by all who participated and was flown in a good spirit, such that we are likely to repeat and expand upon this event. Falcon 4 : Allied Force version 1.03 was used for the match, with no hint of technical problems reported by our side. (except for the aforementioned Ventrilo key issue which is not Falcon related)
Well flown indeed to those who took part.
