Well that was intense!

Flight Role: BARCAP

Banshee 31: "Griffin" AA=4 AG=0 RTB
Banshee 32: "Gekko" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Banshee 33: "Mango" AA=2 AG=0 RTB

MS

We took off as a three ship with the intent of setting up a FL280 hot, FL260 cold anti clockwise CAP between SPs 4 and 5. We didn't even get close before we were in a fight with two SU-27s (I think), that Gekko and I dispatched. We turned cold and Mango came in but also ended up turning cold and flying off to the SW and merging with Panther 6. He ended up with an SU-27 on his six, which luckily for him was out of missiles and was throwing bullets at him. Doubly lucky was that the local Patriot cleared the bandit off his six!

We did manage to get the CAP set up after fighting our way north. Panther 61 joined as our number four.

The CAP worked well in what turned out be two distinct waves of attacks, which were dealt with quite well. The last wave was too much and we were at Bingo weapons and RTB'd. We had straight in landings with 2 and 3 going first as they were low on fuel.

A good kill total for the initial three ship of eight, as well as Noodle's (Panther61) two kills.

A mission success but still plenty to do.

PANTHER61: "Noodle" AA=2 AG=0 RTB
PANTHER62: "Scooter" AA=0 AG=0 KIA

Game plan:
Protect southern flanks, support BANSHEE3 and FALCON3, clear out any leakers. #2 to stay visual and support #1.
A28 and above.

Execution:
Held south of eastern box, monitoring BANSHEE3's engagement. Soon after we went in to clear their sixes and picked up 3xSu-27 at less than 20miles, we turned cold straight and tried to drag them back onto the Patriot but next thing I hear from #2 is "mig in your six o'clock!" I went posthole and cleared Scooter for the kill, calling merge on UHF and delouse from BANSHEE3. The mig broke the lock and I came back up to see 2xF-16s merged with 2xSu-27s. The migs had the advantage and I could see tracers flying. I splashed one of the Su-27s which was behind Mango, the other Su-27 disengaged after emptying its guns on #2. Damaged, he had to RTB with minimal instruments and comms, managed to find the airbase but could not get the gear down and crashed.
I rejoined BANSHEE3 as #4. The rest is on Griffin's debrief.

Our plan was to CAP on the Northeast and see what came at us. We took off as elements and quickly got into 2-5Nm box. We got on our CAP at Stp4 without incident, but quickly picked up a 4-ship Mig29 flanking us to the West. So we turned in and #1 & #2 got slammers off at both leads, hitting them and turning the other defensive. By this time cold, #3 and #4 came up in support and finished the wingmen off - textbook Grinder. No sooner had they breathed a sigh of relief, they picked up another 4-ship Mig29 to the NW, that were engaging a singleton F15. They hooked cold at MAR and #1 & #2 were pushing up looking for them, finding another Mig29 2-ship, the escort for a flight of SU25s as well as a single Mig29. #1 fired 2 slammers but for some reason (probably pilot error) they both tracked a SU25, hitting it. Meanwhile, #2 had fired on one of the escorts, scoring another hit. By this time both were defensive as the remaining escort had teamed up with the singleton and giving chase. After dragging them into friendly SAM coverage, the bandits bugged out. So the flight headed south, took a condor moment and reset to re-establish the CAP.

With clear skies, we pushed the CAP further North, over Stp5 and waited. It didn't take long for Mr Putin to send up more Migs. We found them to the North, so #3 and #4 engaged, both getting hits, but #4's target was only a damaged. Turning cold, #1 and #2 took up the fight with #2 clearing the damaged Mig off #4's tail. #1 got a shot off at a Mig29 in a 4-ship but with the wall of red behind it, we had to turn cold and get low to defend. Unfortunately at this point #2 took a SA19 up the pipe and had to eject. Whilst this was happening, #3 reported that #2 was down and it wasn't until de-brief that we learnt he'd ejected by mistake. With weapons and fuel at Bingo, #1 and #3 rejoined and headed home for straight in approach. Lesson of the flight: DON'T MAP EJECT TO YOUR HOTAS!!!

The 4 things a wingman is allowed to say:

1.Two
2.Lead, you're on fire.
3.I'm bingo fuel.
4.I'll take the fat one.... :/
