OULU JASSm FESTIVAL

The Blue forces are on a major offensive and are recapturing towns as they push the Russians out. The airbase at Oulu has been repaired and poses a threat to future interdiction missions.

We are tasked to lob some GREYHOUNDs into Oulu and leave our signatures in their newly poured concrete.

The package consists of a 4 ship attack and an escort that should be flown by at least two pilots.

THREATS:
SU-37 are a formable threat and are still operating from KUUSAMO at the far east of the map (at BE 107 @121).
Mig-29S are operating from PYHASALMI in the far southeast at BE 166 @176
SU-27 can be expected from KAJAANI at BE 148 @162.
Threats in the target area should be limited to AAA, but the naval units offshore still have medium range AD and should be avoided.

The package & objectives are:

  • PYTHON1 – TARCAP -- Departs from the 185th @ GALLIVARE

  • FALCON1 – Destroy at least 3 runway segments at Oulu -- Departs from the 185th @ GALLIVARE

Timings:

Flight Task TO PP TOT	IDM/VHF	TACAN	FL

PYTHON1 TARCAP 16:25 16:31	16:43 2/2	16/79	270
FALCON1 OCA 16:27 16:33 16:49 1/1	11/74	220

STP4 is placed as the loiter point for FALCON1.

Mission success:
PYTHON1: No losses to FALCON1 from air engagements prior to weapons on target.
FALCON1: 1 runway segment destroyed per human aircraft.

Flight Role: TARCAP/ESCORT

VFR flight; Combat departure to set up CAP to cover strike flights departure. Intercepted a SU-25 4 ship inbound for the 185th home plate. Monitored and the Patriots dispatched the entire flight. Minus 1 slammer from lead we ingressed and pressed as fragged. Rolex +2 we established the CAP as fragged and had multiple engagements during the strike while maintaining control of our AO. Strike called Miller time and when starting to egress a surprise group of 2x MiG-29S came in hot from the due south (feet wet) for the strike flight. They went defensive and the escort went gate and engaged succesfully. Regrouping we flowed back to home plate for a safe landing for all.
Good: flight discipline and comms, timings and mutual support.
Lessons learnt: My VHF comms (don't talk too quick), monitoring separation between wing and element, flight lead recovery, brevity

PYTHON1: No losses to FALCON1 from air engagements prior to weapons on target. So Mission Succes.

Debrief for Falcon 1 OCA
Falcon 1.1 Mango AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Falcon 1.2 Echion AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Falcon 1.3 Vosene AA=0 AG=0 RTB

Took off as briefed saw the SU25s being dropped on our left (Ithought by Python) by the patriots. Proceeded in flight but decided to do a 360 while Python cleared mig 29s from our noses.Got back on track and commenced our attack as planned with no further hitches. Our result was a p.s as 1 and 2 hit with one bomb each and 3 none. As we were very well covered by Python during attack and 7 minute wait we finnished the wait and turned for home. Were aware of Mig spikes behind us but 2 missiles were fired at 2 before Python took care of the Migs. Falcon 2 managed to evade and then we RTBd uneventfully.
I think coms were good between flights and Python did a grand job protecting us. Thanks for an enjoyable mission, Zip.
