Continuing our efforts to weaken the enemy's resources we shall target both Hwangju Depot and the neighbouring 815th Mechanised Corps Base.

More damage has been done to SA-11 sites and all SA-10 Flap Lids are believed to have been destroyed. There are still SA-11s about.

Air threats are low at present but the escort flight shall need to be alert and focused.

Fury 1 shall take off from Chongju while Cowboy 1 and Falcon 1 take off from Nowhere (Yechon) AB.

Package 20510
Cowboy 1 is a four ship strike flight. MS is for the depot and radar at Hwangju Depot to be destroyed PLUS the Depot and Administration Building at the 815th Mech Corps Base to be destroyed. PS will be awarded if the targets at Hwangju Depot are destroyed.

Falcon 1 is the four ship escort and Package Commander, tasked to protect the strike flights.
IDA will be from this flight.
MS no AA losses to the strike flights, PS one loss to the strike flight.

Fury 1 is a four ship SEAD flight. MS is no radar SAM or radar AAA losses to the package, PS is a maximum of two similar losses. There are still lots of SA-11s out there.

Timings
TO for Cowboy 1 is 12:12hrs with PP at 12:26 at FL250. IDM 1, VHF 1, tacan 11/74
TOT for Cowboy 1 is 12:38hrs at FL250.
TO for Falcon 1 is 12:10hrs with PP at 12:24 at FL270. IDM 2, VHF 2, tacan 16/79
TO for Fury 1 is 12:13hrs with PP at 12:21 at FL270. IDM 3, VHF 3, tacan 21/84

Flight path is fixed for mutual support.

The weather is still inclement to fair but this weather system is moving SE with more storms coming in from the north. Choose your weapons accordingly.

Good Hunting

Flight Role: SEAD
Fury11: "Veiland" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Fury12: "Zohrs" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Fury13: "Floyd" AA=2 AG=1 RTB
Fury14: "Griffin" AA=1 AG=1 RTB

MS

At push, we sent second element ahead with the intent of them engaging SAM at the target area and go AA asap and check in with escort flight for tasking.
First element stayed AG and mopped up remaing targets that could be an threat to the package.
This allowed the noob flight lead to focus on SEAD picture while second element quickly could switch to AA.
On the egress we flew front escort for the strike flight and second element engaged a SU-25 flight downing 3 of them.
Comms was good on UHF while we should try and keep VHF short and sweet (Was mostly me babbeling and correcting myself)

Flight Role: ESCORT
Falcon11: "Utopic" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Falcon12: "Zipgun" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Falcon13: "Poppy" AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Falcon14: "Tank" AA=0 AG=0 TECH

MS

We did a RAT on takeoff (also on landing) which worked out OK, Unfortunately, Tank couldn't commit, so we were a human 3ship before takeoff.

Picture clear on the way in.
10 nm to the target steerpoint, we had the escort of an enemy strike flight turn hot on us. #1 & #2 turned and engaged, then while we were cold, #3 took out the remaining guy. It was a good engagement.

After that one, the picture remained clear and provided rear escort for the strike flight.

Good flight overall, and good job for all flights of the package.

Flight Role: Strike
Cowboy11: "Fisty" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Cowboy12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=3 RTB
Cowboy13: "Sabre" AA=0 AG=1 EJT
Cowboy14: "Vosene" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

MS

A fairly uneventful ingress to Push Point, but I chose a finger-4 formation during climb and blind through cloud, which I now realise thanks to Vosene's tutelage, was probably not the most suitable of formations. Once we achieved rejoin, we managed to loosely maintain the formation at 25'000 until about 45 miles short of target when we were instructed by PL to hold off. We anchored in place, in trail, but were minutes later cleared onto target. Elements then split with Lead taking the Depot and Element taking the Infantry Base. 1 JDAM dropped on each target seemed to do the trick and after requesting a little extra playtime, we expended remaining munitions on secondary opportunity targets, with varying success.
At this point we found ourselves stripped with Sabre about 20 miles behind us on egress. I didn't realise how bad this was until reviewing the ACMI, thinking that If we stayed around 320-350nm, Sabre would be able to catch-up. I didn't factor at the time though, that he had to regain 25'000, from 7'000! I'm not sure why he considered it necessary to do a visual BDA, when we all had TGPs! It's not surprising that he expended alot of fuel to catch up, so much so in fact, that at 1500 lbs, he informed me of his fuel issue (no Joker or Bingo call), at around 90nm from Homeplate. The rest of us were around 4,500lbs.

We declared a fuel emergency and prioritised Sabre in first. Lead and 2 stripped out left to allow 3 and 4 straight in, but Sabre took an extended circuit, hampered no doubt by poor visibility and ran out of juice on his turn to final. The rest of us got them down, some a little heavier than others! But we managed to walk away from them, although Mango needed his wellies to walk across the grass, where he left his bent jet!
Apart from my mistakes as flight lead with formations and fuel management for the whole flight, it was an enjoyable one.

Mission Success!

I must say after reviewing the ACMI again, Sabre's flying whilst near the AO seemed a little erratic to say the least! Something to do wih Holby City on the telly was it?
