Thank Zipgun.
Can you just confirm, is this a re-fly of last Sunday's mission or is it a follow on mission in the same area to finish the job of knocking out the SA-10?

The SA-10 was about 50 miles north of the FLOT. If there are any others to the South, they weren't searching. Shouldn't we extend the flightplan North to take us within range of our 88s? |

You can do it, but you won't come back. Fighting an SA-10 over hostile ground with no recon? Plus a very hot air picture? Pretty much suicide. I'd say pick a 50x50 or 30x30 box and work it with spotting the SAM's with AGM-88's, and follow up with MAV's or something. But just taking 88's is safer. I know there are plenty of SAM's out there who we haven't seen yet. I'd say rework the area until it's clear and forge a path from there

If we do that, we're sort of playing for a draw. MS = 1 SA-10 and 3 others destroyed. |

If you look at the ACMI from last week, at least 1 SA-11 still remains in the battalion you engaged and there are others along the FLOT (including Fire Cans). As Poppy said pressing too far north without a picture (ACMI recon) with SA-11s around may not end well. If you want, we can move the central and eastern FLOT and start working, but we have less "picture" there.
Good discussion tho.

Well in that case, we need to change the mission success parameter, since we're not going after any SA-10s. Otherwise it's a MF before we even get in the pit.

Flight Role: SEAD
Callsign11: "Fisty" AA=0 AG=2 (1xSA-10, 1xSA-11) RTB Callsign12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=2 (2x SA-11) RTB Callsign13: "Sabre" AA=0 AG=0 RTB Callsign14: "Vosene" AA=0 AG=1 (1xSA-10) RTB
Mission Outcome: MS
Flight ingressed to STP 3, where Escort cleared us into the AO. 1 assigned an SA-11 target to 2, but he was No Joy, so 1 took the shot and destroyed it. 3 and 4 were then cleared in hot while 1 and 2 went cold, but they were engaged defensive the SA-10 so 1 and 2 went gate to support and 1 then destroyed the Flap Lid. 2 then engage 2 other SA-11 along the FLOT and destroyed them. We were then tasked NE by Shark1 to engage SA-10s. 4 managed to destroy one of the Flap Lids, and 3 was cleared in hot to expend his remaining 88s on SA-11s, but he had problems with his MFDs (possibly tech?) and came off dry. Flight then egressed in Finger-4 and 3&4 called low fuel so 3 took the lead to land, followed by 4, 1 and 2. No problems at landing, all down safe. An enjoyable flight and first lead for me.

Flight Role: TARCAP
Shark11: "Poppy" AA=0 AG=0 RTB Shark12: "Wildcat" AA=0 AG=0 RTB Shark13: "Zipgun" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Mission Outcome: MS (no losses to SEAD flight due to A-A threats)
Ingress as fragged, setup the CAP, stripped to north east (NW was clear). Timing was spot on and a picture clear we we're able to execute the flight plan as fragged. Covered SEAD on their egress and a glorious flight home, mission accomplished!
Congrats Fisty on his first flight lead! Great job!
