Flight leads in this Sunday's official campaign mission, "Battle for Sinai 11" are requested to post a debrief of their flights actions, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.

New takeoff method (2 runways) was new and a bit confusing but we managed. Package was assembled at approx. steer 2 for ingress in AO. Dumb bomb run CCRP on the depot: lead was in first and destroyed the target leaving nothing but rubble for two. I 'll make it up sure thing.
Element was close escort and providing cover. Picture was clear so we we're all in and out in no time. All RTB, a low threat mission which left us busy with trying out some new ways of flying and forming up.

Quite the milk run to be honest. Took off, rejoined fairly well (and quickly) then pushed into box and onto the target. Due to take off delays I pushed TOT to Rolex +7. Targets were hit and package RTB’d in good order.
Learning points:
Package:
1) I was really impressed to see two targets attacked by two separate flights with really good time coordination. From the bombs being released from aircraft 1 and the last bombs falling off the last striker in the package took not much longer than 30 secs. The whole package was off target and pointing towards home in about 2.5 minutes. This is VERY IMPRESSIVE and we should work to try and keep our time over target as small as possible – this proves we can do it and package commanders must take on the responsibility of making it happen – very well done all!
2) Package comms were poor on take-off, but otherwise very good. As debriefed, this is not helped by the ATC continually butting in. I think that, (as we own the airbase with no AI) it might be worth checking in with tower, but when the package starts taxiing, turning to channel 16 to get rid of the tower chatter.
3) There is a clear requirement for an SOP for package taxi and take of procedures. While I agree that last night we were trying something new, there are still issues (pilot, flight lead and package lead) with coordinating a joint taxi to hold, then positioning, then taking off in good order. As was debriefed, I agree with Flyingstone that last night’s issues have little to do with the take-off plan per say, but rather individual pilots getting lost (two pilots lost their position) and also co-ordinated package taxing. This could do with some work.
Flight:
1) Great time keeping and position work over the target.
2) With the exception of Zipgun, the flight needs to work on formation skills. Lead struggled to maintain stated airspeed and altitude. 3 needs to keep control of his wingman. 4 needs to work on formation re-join and holding formation.
3) Comms. 3 needs to work on keeping up comms with his wingman (help 4 get into position, know where to go etc). 4 really need sto work on acknowledgement of directions. Lead and 3 had to prompt several times for a response – this is far from ideal.
4) 4 needs to work on safe landings – I think I am right in saying you have had a couple of ‘hard landings’ in this theatre.
