This week the teams flew a 4 ship Pre Plan CAS sortie with a 2 ship Escort against a SCUD battalion and its associated HQ unit who had been observed moving South. In the main, this was the best all round performance of the month with all of the teams putting in a creditable display. The deciding mission for the April awards was keenly contested boosted by the highest attendance of the year so far.

Red succeeded in the Escort led superbly by guest pilot Ironballz who secured 2 AA kills and brought the flight home safely. The strike flight unfortunately failed to score enough kills on the ground targets and suffered 2 losses due to the SA14s linked to the HQ unit.

Green put in a very solid all round performance, bringing 4 out of 5 safely home, securing a success for the Escort but unfortunately failing the Strike due also to not being able to take out enough ground targets to significantly degrade the target units.

Black faired slightly better in terms of hitting more ground targets to eliminate the SCUD battalion to earn a partial success but paid the price and lost 3 pilots in the process. Credit due to Bigbrother for succeeding as leader of the Escort, as well as to guest pilot Showtime from the 16th who contributed 14 AG kills in the strike and safely returned to base to tell the tale.

For the second week running, our top flight goes to Blue who secured a mission success with a new record score of 458 points, wiping out the SCUD battalion and reducing the HQ to 13% Operational with a total of 38 confirmed AG kills between them. 3 out of the 4 pilots returned to base, with Stringray contributing an impressive 18 AG kills himself, and Cobra top scoring with 98 points demonstrating superb leadership of the flight. Extremely well flown indeed.

Awards for April are described under a seperate posting and the detailed results are available from the CPL section of the War Room.
