Flight Role: CAS

Panther11: Utopic AA=1 AG=0 RTB
Panther12: Tank AA=2 AG=0 RTB
Panther13: Poppy AA=3 AG=0 RTB
Panther14: Zipgun AA=5 AG=0 RTB

On the way in, no incidents and picture clear.

On the first engagement we had to break left (south) and monitor bandits coming from the south. After that, we tried to still follow the plan but it didn't work out so great due to bandits coming from all direction.

We managed not to lose any pilots and got good scores but I think that we didn't really follow the briefing, so I think we might need to think about other plans.

Flight Role: DCA

Cobra21 ‘Sharpe’ AA=4 AG=0 RTB
Cobra22: ‘Mango’ AA=1 AG=0 EJT
Cobra23: ‘Ironman’ AA=0 AG=0 Tech
Cobra24: ‘Crowebar’ AA=1 AG=0 Tech

MS
Fairly typical DCA run, lots of reds all over the place. Two early technicals meant that the flight was not as effective as it might have been. 1 loss due to breech of MAR. Package coms were good, especially once AWACS went down.
Squadron grinder tends to break down early due to multiple threat directions – while not ideal I think it is still more effective for mutual support than dividing up ‘kill zones’ and patrol areas.
The question now becomes – how do we start to win the campaign? Based on the intel screen if we keep doing what we are doing we will ultimately make no impact on their air assests (they have too many and are resupplied to quickly). ‘The wall’ intercepts us as we cross the FLOT so we cant penetrate too far into enemy territory or have a suitable amount of loiter time for CAS. Airbase OCA would be ideal IF we can get there (there is a double strip hosting a fair number of the aircraft that were attacking us from the west that we might be able to hit). Perhaps we have to accept only limited air superiority and some losses to achieve some single pass strikes? Difficult one to answer but as things stand its very good practice against an advanced active shooter.

@ Griffin/Crowebar – Can you add a kill for Mango – ACMI confirms he traded his aircraft for a Mig-29.
@ Utopic – I think you mean DCA not CAS for your mission type? ;)

Gypsy11 ‘Floyd’ AA=1 AG=0 RTB

The package drifted towards n/w to the end and was
surrounded by bandits coming from 3 directions.
Separating the flights while keeping mutal
support might help to avoid nasty surprises
to lack of air picture in the future.
