Flight leads in this Sunday's official campaign mission, "Korean Campaign 7" are requested to post a debrief of their flights actions by Tuesday, including any lessons learned or that should be learned by others.

Package lead from the back was rather difficult and the brevity was flying quick and fast. Cowboy 9 ended up punching CAT-1 once it became clear that the package would be unable to push through to the enemy airbase (at around Steerpoint 3). I therefore made the RTB call once the package had taken 2 losses and also made a call for my flight to go CAT-1. We then made an effort to delouse and clear the northern flank for the rest of the package to beat a hasty retreat. We engaged and dispatched several contacts, with Poppy winning a small knife-fight with a MiG-21. Cowboy 9 was relatively quiet overall and much more uneventful compared to the other flights.
It was a privilege to lead the package but from the rear it was difficult to get a decent SA on the picture ahead of the package. My flight members said my flight leading was "excellent", though I felt my package leading was lacking and am looking to improve my ability to lead large-scale package operations.
All members should continue to practice brevity (it's called BREVITY FOR A REASON); ensuring that it is brief, to the point and relevant (I don't care about your fuel state in a dogfight) however it is understandable that during intense combat brevity becomes less of a conversation between flights and more so a way of communicating your status. Regardless, it's important to ensure your enunciation is clear and that each of us work on improving brevity! |

We took off and climbed to FL320 and stayed about 10-15 miles behind the SEAD lead.
As we approached SP2 the first attack on the overall plan started as SEAD reported a couple of got contacts. They turned to investigate and we followed a parallel route.
That was the start of three flights of MiG-29A and Su-27s to stop us in our tracks.
Between ourselves and the SEAD these aircraft were dispatched but not before we lost the first element of the SEAD.
Undaunted and stiff upper lip still intact, we pushed on, only to be faced with more strike and fighter aircraft in our way.
The furthest north we got was the edge of the southernmost SA-2 circle before I was Winchester and the abort call was given.
With the assistance of our human AWACs (many thanks Skal by the way) we headed home but the first part was out to the SE to avoid Migs before turning back in for home.
We were diverted to attack some SU-25s that were taking an interest in our base. We only had guns. We both flew past it once or twice before a Patriot took it down.
We then returned to base, the last to land.
Nice flying Veiland.
Lessons:
1. Keep comms short and appropriate, although I thought this was not too bad on this occasion.
2. Long distance missions need more support aircraft. Perhaps bring some AI flights up to clear the route a little?
3. Make a list of those people with good connections tostand in when we don't have the luxury of Floyds server.

Sharp and Skal exchanged missiles with a pair of SU 27, both SU27's fired two R-77 each. End result 2 F16s down and 1 Su 27 downed by Skal before Griffin and Veilland arrived to support. Jacks missile missed the 2nd Su 27.

Note two SEAD flights. Took off and proceeded en route, after the shoot down of the first SEAD flight we continued North East to encounter a wall of enemy aircraft typically Mig 29A's escorting other aircraft. When we were low on air to air missiles as well as escort package commander ordered a mission abort and Jack and I RTB'd.
Losing the first SEAD flight so early was a significant blow to our offensive air to air capability and we simply didn't have the resources to fight our way through.
