The launch of the new CPL brought some interesting results from the new flight teams against the challenging BridgeBreaker TE. The mission relied heavily on the success of the SEAD flight to take out the SA2, SA5 and the deadly SA11 at the target. For those who flew SEAD, noone was able to nuetralise the SA11, making the follow up bridge strike very difficult. Notable performances came from Pinbeck who did manage to hit one of the bridges and from Sabre who succeeded in the Escort flight and managed to bring the jet home. The only other pilot to make it home was Kamu who wisely aborted the bridge strike when it became apparant that the SA11 was still active.
Our early leader on the individual league is therefore Sabre with 74 points, his leadership skills meaning that Green flight also sets the early pace in the team competition. Who will take the team award for April?

Obviously it wasn't wise decision to RTB or fly at all if you look at scoreboard.

| Actually Kamu, coming home was the right decision, each pilot who brings the plane home adds 5 points to his score and also to the other team members score. Its better to score something than be shot down for no points. You did well in this tough little mission. |

Maybe i'm only one who doesn't understand why TECH or LOA is more rewarding than flying mission and RTB. Rules are rules and i want to respect them so lets look forward to next mission. Case closed. |

I think Kamu has a point here! - May need to re-think the scores for RTB (IMO you should be rewarded higher for flying in every respect in preference to an LOA or technical problem otherwise it is a nonsense.

Please have a look at the post on how the new scoring system works. http://www.185th.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=628 There are points for flying the mission, succeeding in your mission and destroying your targets and there are points for good flight management and coming home. The SA-11's were still active and had already shot down three planes. Real life missions have been aborted for less.

Sabre is correct here.
If you succeed in the mission objective AND bring everyone home you will massively outscore any team with LOAs or TECHs. This mission does not demonstrate this very well in the scoring because (a) the mission was of above average difficuly (so the scores were low ) and (b) the attendance last Sunday was below average due to many pilots being away for an extended Easter break.
The combination of less pilots and a difficult mission will always lead to this distortion. We will run this scoring system for 4 weeks and review the situation if we need to, so please give it more than just one week before passing judgement.

oopss... some of you may have noticed that the scoring is incorrect, there is no adjustment for attendance.
I have been working on the code all day to fix this, but have broken something else. Please bear with me, while I make it all work properly.

Ok, the new code is fixed for mission reporting.
The bad news is that flight leads will need to call up the mission and click submit to update the results.
In the next 24 hours or so, I will add the Command override to enable Command to enter results for any flight.

just so you know,
the current scoring system is fully operational, all scores have been updated and incorporated into PJ's spreadsheet.
Command now have their override and PJ can get the mission score data in spreadsheet format.

Hi guys I just would like to add something here to Kamu,in my book you made the absolutly correct decision to RTB,and I agree fully with PJ and Sabre its better to bring the plane home then get shot down for nothing,and as Sabre said quote:Real life missions have been aborted for less.I thnk it will be aborted when flightlead is shot down even if the groundtarget objectives is not fulfiled.
so once again Kamu you did a wise decision!
