Falcon 1 Deep Strike
Falcon 11: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=2 RTB Falcon 13: "Floyd" AA=0 AG=1 RTB Mission Success
This was a really well exucuted mission by all concerned. Our flight had little to do but destroy the office building and two bridges. This was done after some excellent clearance work by the two escort flights. I destroyed the office and the (wrong) bridge and Floyd destroyed the bridge I shouold have gone for after I destroyed his.
After that we returned to base while the escorts covered or return with excellent instructions and guidance from Lumper (on his 200th mission).
A really good mission Floyd.

Flight Role: ESCORT Lobo11: Dmans1 AA=3 AG=0 RTB Lobo13: Helldiver AA=4 AG=0 RTB
Mission Outcome:MS
Mission Plan: Clear the way in,TARCAP while the strike was heads down, escort the flights home. Execution: 1st engagement: 2 ship Su27 west of flight plan. Both sorted ,but broke radar lock at 27nm. 1st element pumped, at 20mm, went defensive on Fox1-Fox3 , 2nd element went hot, scored 2 kills.
2nd engagement: 2 ship Mig23 west if flight plan. Sorted and gave shoot command to the AI's.2 kills.
3rd engagement: 2 ship Su27 west of flight plan when strike was hot on target. Set up a chainsaw with #1 and #3 scoring kills.
4th engagement: 2ship Mig29A + 2ship Mig29A west of the flight plan on egress. Initially sorted and fired on the 1st 2ship, when the 2nd popped up on radars on a 10nm azimuth split.Again, setted up a chainsaw, downed all 4 aircrafts.
Great excecution from my flight , with well timed, pumps, never being in real danger when defensive from Fox1 and Fox3. Good execution overall, with good SA and interflight comms.

Flight Role: (SEAD ESCORT) Fury11: "Vaughan" AA=1 AG=1 RTB Fury13: "Mango" AA=1 AG=0 MIA
Mission Outcome: MS
Our mission was to clear the flight path of SAM threats, ensuring a smooth flight for the Strike element of our package.
First engagement was against the SA-2. We had tacked approximately 6NM east of our planned flight path to stay clear of Lobo1's engagement vs SU-27s. The attack on the SA-2 was uneventful, with the Fan Song-B destroyed by a HARM.
Second engagement was against a MiG-23ML 2-ship. I found the contacts late and sorted on lead with Mango sorting on the trail. My Fox-3 was near the range of an SA-11. I had an SA-11 launch, defeated the missile and splashed the bandit. Mango launched Fox-3 at 21NM. Unfortunately, he entered the SA-11's range, was launched against and shot down. His Fox-3 destroyed the trail MiG-23.
RTB was uneventful. I was standing by to assist Lobo1 during their final engagement but was not required.
My thoughts:
After the SA-2 engagement, there was too much (15-20NM) separation between lead and element, due to lead flying too fast.
During the engagement with the MiG-23s I picked up the contacts quite late (within 45NM), despite pointing directly in the direction given by AWACS. Combined with my myopic focus on the A-A radar, this brought the engagement near the threat range of an SA-11 ultimately causing Mango to be shot down.
A further point for Fury1 is that neither I nor Mango called Fox-3 on broadcast when launching, causing some uncertainty as to whether we had fired on the MiGs.
I have no debrief.txt for Fury1 (strangely, I have Falcon1 and Lobo1), so have reconstructed the events from my ACMI tape.
Overall the mission was a success with excellent inter-flight comms and AWACS support. It was highly enjoyable, so thanks to Floyd for writing it and apologies to Mango for my mistakes! |

Vaughan mate, both the mistakes youve taken upon yourself are mine 1.The seperation between us grew after attacking the SA2 because I made to big a 360 as not to overfly the SA2. 2. Although lumper warned us of the SA11 and I had a 11 spike on my RWR and a threat circle on my HSD I was so tunnelled in on the Mig that I disregarded all these warnings and therefore paid the price, completely mine. So, no appologies called for and I meant what I said in debrief you were on top of events all the time and well done. |
