Feedback from Meeting of Senior Officers 27/09/04
After detailed consultation with the senior officers, Command wishes to announce the following:-
Merger of Red and Black flights
For the immediate future, all the pilots in Black will be transferred to Red Flight with Reaps retaining the flight lead and Weezer as the second in Command. This decision has been taken in order to more efficiently distribute the available pilots on flight night, and has in reality already been working effectively for several weeks. Command reserves the right to reform Black and Green flights in the future should numbers dictate this.
Flight night Punctuality.
Command respectfully advises all pilots who wish to fly in the official TE to meet in the squadron chat at 19.45 hrs GMT with immediate effect. Flight Leads will sort flights at exactly 20.00 hrs, latecomers will be accepted at the flight leads discretion until 20.10 hrs, thereafter you cannot expect to fly if you turn up later than 20.10 hrs.
Extended LOAs
Extended LOAs (pilots who wish to be absent from more than 4 consecutive weeks) will no longer be allowed. Instead, pilots who wish to be absent for this time or longer will be transferred to the reserves until such time as they notify their flight leads that they are in a position to return to active duty when they will be reinstated to the roster (subject to cockpits being available) The purpose of this is to streamline the current roster to reflect the active pilots only.
LOAs
Pilots are respectfully reminded of the need to continue to submit timely LOAs to their flight leads if they are not going to be able to fly the official TE. The new career points scoring also rewards pilots who submit LOAs in good time. Failure to do this is considered inconsiderate to your fellow pilots who are waiting to fly, failure to submit LOAs for 3 weeks running without any reasonable explanation to your flight lead will result in your removal to the reserves. Flight leads will take responsibility for enforcement.
Teamspeak adopted as official Comms package for the 185th
Teamspeak is to be used on all official flights by default with Roger Wilco providing secondary backup. The 24/7 server provided by Drummer will become the default voice comms meeting place with immediate effect. However, although this server would be able to handle 18-20 pilots in one place for chat and flight allocation purposes, it does not have enough bandwidth to provide comms for all pilots to use simultaneously whilst flying. Therefore, once flights are allocated, teams will need to use alternate Teamspeak servers set up by team members in order to ensure sound quality is maintained at an acceptable level.
Formation of an Elite Flight of the 185th In order to retain the interest of some of our Veteran members, Command has decided to press ahead with plans to nominate an elite flight. More details to follow shortly.
