after this weeks "showtime", next weeks mission is "men of steel" i was thinking of making it worthy of a full sqn launch as in 24 player TE.
basically the pilots will ramp start and await instructions from the AWACS.
its an air defence mission so its essential that we have AWACS controllers, i was thinking of 2.
the AWACS will control the entire battle, they will have to read the situation, access what need's doing and then commit the 185th to battle.
so i need two folks to fight the battle from the AWACS using 185th pilots, you need to be confident and comfortable using the AWACS.
i shall leave it to command to pick 2 from the volunteers
the mission will be based on 24 but i shall create another colour Team (red china) which any over the 24 can try and join, no idea if a second colour works but will try it
AWACS volunteers step one pace forward.
after Men of steel thier will be a bombing halt so we can fly some of the modern stuff and then if desired phase two of the mini campaign where the air battle will get really serious...

I don't mind flying AWACS but as I flew it for the last 24-player I'm also happy to let others have a go if there are enough volunteers.

Since I'm grounded from flying at the moment I would be happy to help. However my AWACs skills are pretty bad to say the least and I would hate to jeopardise the campaign due to my incompetence, so sorry guys unless you are absolutely desperate I will do it only as a last resort - you have been warned!

ok Vosene has done it before and balistic cant fly, right now i have you both pencilled in. snake will be testing so no awacs for you my man
what i will do is send you get a TE with the enemy forces on so you have a week to divide up responsabiltys and a plan of action
the rules are each unit you see on the map may launch a maximum of 4 planes so you have an idea of the maximum number of each type you will face. the aircraft will be along the lines and roles you have fought against so far, expect attack from the land and the sea.
SOP 9.1 in force so maximum bandits will be 35 at one time of which some will be the F4 phantom. you have the diagrams from briefing 3 to see what a full raid compostion looks like. dont get wrapped up in specific plane types only the force compostion (migcap/wild weasel etc) you can be reasonble confident the Mig Cap will be F4s
you may freely place your 22 185th Blk 52 2xaim9p+gun+ctr fuel tank planes on any friendly airfields as you see fit. i dont want to know where you are basing them until after i have made the raid(s) up, then i will place them on the map in your requested locations i will put some extras in china (blk 50 2xAim9M no centre tank but center gun(camera)pod. if the multi team idea works you may get to use them but dont plan on them taking a big part cos thats an unknown if it will work right now, if you get them its a bonus
the bandits will be attacking multple targets from multiple directions i will try to make sufficant activity so that all get to see some air to air action, i will try for a 30 minutes raid window from the pre-strike recce,the raid, post strike recce

I would like to do AWACS please I think I have the Lumper trait so If Vosen wants to fly then I am more than ready to jump into that seat. And after last weeks mission I hope Green flight will be happy with me taking tat seat

I dont mind having a go at it with just me if i have to I understand if ballistic does not want to do it it is a hard job and he is a good pilot and would be better in the air I will discuss with Tomb as to whats what and poss have a play with a mission with 6 pilots on Thursday to see how things go each pilot will be in a flight of his own this will simulate 6 flights in the air at one time.

If I am going to do this I would like some help on Thursday around 19.30 GMT online for a chance to see how it works with 6 flights up in the air at once. I need help here I would like for at least 6-8 people to fly a mission that either me or Tomb will nock up for Thursday.
I think it is fair to ask that as AWACS I am in control of the flights. As Reds found in last Sundays TE it is a bit of a leap of faith. I will do my best for you but please all I ask is that if i send you in a direction go that way and if asked to id engage or disengage please follow what i ask. At the end of the day it will be on my head not yours so the book stops with me.
