Them pesky Russians are at it again.

No sooner have we finished kicking them out of Scandinavia than they move east and invade Japan! Well our job is, once again, kick them out and we start now.

You have been posted to 50th Fighter Squadron at Asahikawa AB on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, flying F-16C-50s.

Our first task is to hit known SA-2 and SA-3 sites. There are lots of AAA along the FLOT and into northern Hokkaido, along with SA-7, 14, 15 and 19 threats. Watch your hard deck.

Package 1476
Banshee 4 - SEAD
Warhawk 3 - Escort

Early air threats are expected to come for Rishiri AB with their compliment of MiG 29G.

MS - SA-2 and 3 destroyed and no losses to air threats for Banshee 4.
PS - One of the SAMs destroyed and/or one loss to Banshee 4 from air threats.

We have active Nike and Hawk battalions as protection.

I think everyone in the Strike showed both the SA-2 and SA-3 as almost undamaged at debrief. About 75% operational for the SA-2 and 93% for the SA-3 so it was an issue for all.

It might be an issue with the host hosting all ground units but the clients owning the weapon bubbles with bandwidth limitations give the number of units at the start of this new campaign.

Fisty any insight?

On reviewing the ACMI, I did see some warping of objects, presumably due to connection issues. Perhaps we are reaching the client capacity for Griffin's bandwidth? Maybe that also explains Vosene not seeing the targets destroyed post-mission?

Banshee42 “Pegasus” AA=0 AG=7
Banshee43 “Fisty” AA=0 AG=15
Banshee44 “Gekko” AA=0 AG=9

MS

Took off, split with 1st element engaging SA-2 to North and 2nd element the SA-3 to the NE. Fired JSOWS, targets destroyed. RTB with OHB.

Slight issue with targets still showing in recon screen on clients computers post landing but host showed them destroyed so all good.

MS

First day of the campaign. Banshee took off first and we followed heading to our CAP area having identified the nearest and likely source of enemy aircraft in the NW as briefed.

We had two CAP stations, one ahead and one behind the FLOT. Banshee pushed more north than expected so we set up on our northern CAP.

The first rotation was quiet, then the MiG 29Gs took off. Mango and I engaged, with me firing two slammers in TWS and getting two kills.

Noodle and Sabre went hot in time to see two more MiGs take off. At this point Banshee were finished and heading home. We stayed to clear the six o'clock before returning home.

Back to the MiGs.

Noodle launched two slammers but both tracked one aircraft, killing it. Sabre fired and damaged the other. We did another circuit and Noodle killed the final MiG 29G before we heading to home plate.

We did an Echelon left approach and overhead break right for runway 34. Sabre went around a few time to get some happy snaps for his album before landing.

Better formation and turning discipline was seen but we need to tighten up on comms discipline, keeping messages short and to the point and giving priority to engagement comms.
