On the western front, commands wants to cleanup as much as possible the units in the Sayda city.
We are tasked to interdict enemy ground units, in and around the city of Sayda, on the west coast. The intel we have gives us what's left of two tank battalions and an HQ battalion, the 292nd, 293rd and 3rd respectively
Be advised that there's one SA13 left in the 292nd and weather has turned poor, with a cloud deck at 13 000. Loadout is free so plan accordingly.
Also, to the NE of the city there is an active SA2. Although the city area is not in range, if you deem it necessary you may choose to engage it.
The package will consist of 3 AI flights, 3 four-ships as follows :
- Cowboy1 – AI -- Departs from the 4329th @ Hatzerim -- Payload is free= currently loaded with LGBs
- Panther1 – AI -- Departs from the 4329th @ Hatzerim -- Payload is free= currently loaded with LGBs
- Gipsy1 – AI -- Departs from the 4329th @ Hatzerim -- Payload is free= currently loaded with LGBs
Timings:
Flight Task TO PP TOT IDM VHF TACAN FL LASER CODES
Cowboy1 AI 04:37 04:48 04:59 1 1 11/74 200 1660-1663

Attack plan is free and should be discussed before the flight.
Mission success, all flights: 75% units hit for ordnance expended.

Uneventful INGRESS, as 1st in and package commander, we reported the weather to be OK near the target. We did, however, find the units to moving spoiling our plan for using GBU-54s in easy mode. As the units moved in-and-out of the cloud cover, we were left without a viable option for engagement, movement=not JDAM mode, clouds=not laser mode. In retrospect, we should have taken 65Ds.
Thanks for holiday gift Griff, as a training opportunity we should all dust off the dash 34 before using these munitions again. |

Panther 11 - Griffin AA=0, AG=0, RTB Panther 123 - Vosene AA=0, AG=2, RTB
After Vosene played at Goldilocks (he didn't like the feel of the seat in No2 so he left it at the side of the runway and got in No3) we went on to the target. We had GBU-54s set up for an INS attack on a bunch of tanks. Then the buggars moved and screwed up the party. We went to laser guided mode, well we thought we did! We found out after the flight where we went wrong and more capable wordsmiths than myself will be able to explain it to you. Needless to say I didn't kill anything and Vosene managed to kill two SA-8's.
A pants result really, but it's Christmas and as we all got home in one piece I've awarded us all a mission success.
Ya boo sucks to mission success criteria for this one Utopic. Hehehe.
