Posted - 18 Sep 2017 : 23:56:06 Interdiction/Strike The offensive operation to capture Hoeyang is progressing well. Recent intelligence spotted a DPRK Mech Battalion east of our advancing troops. This unit has joined with the remnants of an SA-10 battalion, giving them air defense from 2 ZPUs. The 2 units are holding while they resupply with ammunition from the 1st Infantry Corps Base and a standing warehouse at Kosong Naval Base.
We are tasked to destroy the troops and strike the ammo dump and warehouse.
Additional imbedded intelligence indicates that the Chinese may have supplied a plastic repair material to the Toksan repair crew. We have no further insight into the state of the F-16s based there. This is a night mission and conditions are still inclement at our airfields but ceilings should be at 12,000 ft. over the targets. The strike on the ammo dump and port buildings should be conducted at or below 10,000 ft. The Interdiction weather will be a challenge, but we must make it work.
Loadouts and attack profiles are free for the flight leads.
The package will consist of 3 flights: 1 INTERDICTION, 1 STRIKE, and 1 SWEEP/ESCORT – objectives are:
- AVENGER1 – Destroy ground units in the town of Kumgang --Departs from the 912th @ Yeoncheon TO= 0152 – Push - 0209 @ FL22 -- Payload is free = currently loaded with Mavericks
- SERPENT2 – Strike the ammo dump at the 1st Infantry Corps Base, the warehouse, admin building and manufacturer at Kosong Port --Departs from the 912th @ Yeoncheon TO= 0154 – Push STP - 0210 @ FL20 -- Payload is free = currently loaded with LDGPs
- SHARK2 – Provide air cover for the package --Departs from the 911th @ Chongju TO= 0150 – Push STP -0205 @FL27
Mission success: AVENGER1: 75% units hit for ordnance expended. SERPENT2: ammo dump and warehouse destroyed. SHARK2: no losses from enemy air.
IDM and TACAN are per SOP

Took off, and proceeded to steer 3, where we anchored. Serpent3 anchored 2000 ft above us before moving their anchor point.
When we had the call to proceed, we split into 2 elements and continued to target area. Fisty and Echion did an excellent job in attacking their targets. Sabre and Mango were less successful, unable to pick up the contacts on radar.
We rtb'd when Mango called Joker fuel. Uneventful landing.

Took off, and almost got to stpt3 when we heard the call to hold. We held by capping between steer-points 3 and 2.
When we had the call to proceed, we did, descended to 10 000 as briefed and dropped our ordinance, with the only comments that #2 needed 2 passes as he couldn't release both on the first pass.
On the way out, we asked Shark if they needed any help. They did not, so we headed back and landed.
Good mission.

2 engagements against 2-ship enemy F-16. First engagement was like clockwork, second engagement was slightly confused as we had little/no time to re-join before we were hot again. Some rearrangement of positions required to assist with spacing issues, but the second enemy group managed to kil one of us before we took him down.
