This was an exercise in orbiting a specified position, maintaining separation, altitude, speed control and awareness.

At many points during a mission we may be asked to anchor or hold a specific position or even go to a specific point and wait. With the combination of A/A tacan and datalink sounds easy to deconflict but how to measure your distance and reference to the fixed point.

The little twist was using the steer point as a simulated tacan.

After a short ground school on how to use steerpoints as a TACAN, off we went to try it out. Just to mix it up, we changed individual distances from the steerpoint and moved the whole flight adjustments from time to time.

All rtb'd safely.

Well done to everyone and especially Noodle on his first training exercise.
