The last package out has just returned and informed us that the enemy aircraft carrier has been sunk. This means that the last facility for launching enemy aircraft has been destroyed. Consequently the skies should be ours. You should note intelligence reports that repairs at Oulu AB are well under way and that their compliment of 14 x SU-25 attack aircraft, 18 x MiG-29S fighters and 22 x KA-52 attack helicopters may be airborne soon.

That said, your task is to attack the 44th and 77th Battleship groups that accompanied the carrier group. These have SA-N-6 (SA-10) capability. We need these ships sunk to open up the skies for us at the northern end of the Gulf of Bothnia.

TASMO flights are from the 941st squadron and 543rd squadron while the SEAD escort is made up from the 185th squadron at Gallivare AB.

Package 13076
Cowboy 1 is a four ship TASMO flight. MS is for destruction of the battleship of the 44th Battleship group. PS is for destruction of two secondary targets in that group. Note that the 44th group is on a heading of 240° from it's current location.

Falcon 1 is a four ship TASMO flight. MS is for destruction of the battleship of the 77th Battleship group. PS is for destruction of two secondary targets in that group. Note that the 77th group is on a heading of 320° from it's current location.

Fury 1 is a four ship SEAD Escort flight. MS is no losses to the flight from known or suspected radar guided SAMs. PS for one loss to the TASMO flights from radar guided SAMs.

Hornet 1 is a four ship F/A-18C TASMO flight. MS is for destruction of the battleship of the 44th Battleship group. PS is for destruction of two secondary targets in that group. Note that the 44th group is on a heading of 240° from it's current location.

Fury 1 is package commander

IDM will be from Fury 1.

Timings

TO for Cowboy 1 is 21:42hrs with cruise altitude at FL280. IDM 1, VHF 1, tacan 11/74.

TO for Falcon1 is 12:44hrs with cruise altitude at FL270. IDM 2, VHF 2, tacan 16/79.

TO for Fury 1 is 12:40hrs with cruise altitude at FL290. IDM 3, VHF 3, tacan 21/84.

TO for Hornet 1 is 12:46hrs with cruise altitude at FL300. IDM 4, VHF 4, tacan 26/89.

Flight path is fixed for mutual support. Should you wish to alter the route then ALL flights must be altered to match.

All flights will be on their briefed VHF frequency and UHF 6 during the flight.

Navigation data for Gallivare:
Tacan Channel: 018X
Tacan range (nm): 25
ILS freq (rwy): 108.10 (30)
Tower freq (UHF): 244.400
Tower freq (VHF): 122.200
Runway: 12/30
Runway elev. (ft): 1,020

Weapons choice is free.

If Hornet 1 is manned then Cowboy 1 shall be left on the ground.

Good Hunting

Flight Role: TASMO
Hornet11: "Fisty" AA=0 AG=0 KIA
Hornet12: "Zipgun" AA=0 AG=0 KIA
Hornet13: "Utopic" AA=0 AG=2 KIA

PS

Not much to say about this one, except that it was frustrating to say the least. On entry to the pit, I had an issue with my HOTAS. My right rudder was not working. I tried to make do, but in the end I had to back out to fix it. When I re-entered, the flight was already in the air. I don't know what the AI Lead was doing, but when I got back in the pit, I was at about 560 kts, in a steep dive with the Airbrakes out and at afterburner. I didn't realise at the time, but this had damaged all 4 of my missiles and ultimately contributed to me being shot down. I basically got too close while struggling to get the missiles off. Zipgun suffered a similar fate, caused by getting too close, but he managed to get 2 missiles off, the ACMI shows these disappeared when he got hit. Utopic did manage to get all his missiles off, sinking the Ticonderoga and a Spruce. He then strayed too close whilst holding in the bubble and was also shot down. The Perry in our group was hit by Sabre but we'll take it!
A PS since we failed to sink our intended targets.

Flight Role: TASMO
Falcon11: "Griffin" AA=0 AG=1 RTB
Falcon12: "Mango" AA=0 AG=0 RTB
Falcon13: "Sabre" AA=0 AG=1 RTB

MS

Take off was uneventful but ahead of Hornet.

Ingress was quiet and nothing was in the air to hamper us. On approach to the target we switched to SEA mode on the FCR to pick up the targets. Nothing could be seen. In desperation I switched to GM mode and there they were.

I launched at the Long Beach in one pass. Mango and Sabre had to take two which resulted in them firing at two separate ships. Sabre hit the Ticonderoga and Perry, winking the latter. Mango hit the Winscosin and Virginia (is that the correct spelling????).

After giving the missiles time to hit home while we stayed in the 'bubble' we regrouped and RTB'd.

Utopic has already volunteered to host.

I don’t want to have too many F-18 seats in case we can’t fill them. Can I suggest we leave the 2x 4-ship F-16 TASMO Flights as is and add a 4-ship Hornet TASMO Flight in addition. Need to use Mission Commander to add them to same package.

That way people can jump in either the F-16 or the F-18 depending on their preference, up to a maximum of 8 human pilots in the TASMO Flights and get any AI controlled aircraft to RTB after take-off?

I don't think the Cypriot infrastructure is up to hosting any more than 4 people, but I'm willing to try it if there's no other alternative. I have an upload speed of 4mb/s.

What's the consensus of opinion?

My question about the host still applies.

As Floyd is having fun with the family this weekend can we have a volunteer to host the mission please?
