Posted - 04 Nov 2005 : 13:43:41 hi guys thanks for turning out for this event the next one will be on 21st of November @ 19:00 hrs.
Bigbro in answer to your question about padlock. The use of padlock is disabled so people actually use the f16 avionics n proper tactics to find n track targets n not by hitting the 4 key. It makes for much more interesting and excieting engagements.

No Biggie, its just that as I flew against Woppa, I did detect a touch of irritation from him that both Retro & I asked questions that had apparently been covered in the briefing documents.
No falling on swords required from you or anyone else here, just an aknowledgement that we can all do better with hindsight!

I thought I had presented the briefing thoroughly enough, orally.. But I guess I did not and you all needed the briefing on the papers. And for this I am sorry. I will do better next time if that's a consolation..

Dunno mate, but it made the difference in my fight with Cash (BVT6). Lost sight, lost the fight. Not nearly enough time with the TIR to make it a viable alternative, but that's being remedied at a rate of knots.
Off home now to practice some more :) |

I am very sorry about the briefing files not being sent out. The files were sent to me and Focus and I assumed that he would distribute them if I was not able to. I got caught in traffic coming back from dropping Tracer off at Stanstead and was not able to be there for the start as i had intended.

Posted - 18 Oct 2005 : 11:54:50 There were some valuable lessons to be learned by all in last night's match with the 53rd Warhammers.
1) Situational Awareness 2) effective use of Comms 3) Ultra low level flying at high speed without crashing (my bad!!) 4) Having a planned strategy and a fall back plan if the first one when wrong 5) Not being drawn into a knife fight etc,
were but a few of all the many things that needed to be considered on the night.
But a couple of FUNDAMENTALS were missed. These related to preapartion & planning.
It was clear that WOPPA of the 53rd had issued a pack of information but this was not passed on the the whole 185th team. As a result we had no real idea of the format of the night, the wrong Ventrillo package (despite asking a couple of times what was required) and were in the dark as to how to get things moving along at the outset. The 'faff' clock ran and ran until we eventually got into the planning and pit.
The delays that the above caused were embarassing to the members of the 185th that turned up and as fundamentals should be addressed in a sufficiently timely manner so as to prevent further red faces.
Let learn from that and perhaps host our own event?? This will consoldiate our position in the community as a serious squadron and build on the exposure we had in Bristol this last weekend.
Any thoughts from the squadron??
