Posted - 12 Sep 2005 : 20:10:35 This weeks mission required that the Strike flight destroy a set of bridges on the south coast to prevent the enemy breaking out from their bridgehead while the CAS flight went after a selection of recently landed mechanised units who were heading towards the aforementioned bridges. Success relied upon the Strike flight selecting the correct weapons for the job and the CAS flight quickly locating and destroying the enemy ground units at night.
RED attempted the mission with 4 pilots, securing a success in the strike flight and a partial in the CAS accounting for 16 AG kills between them. 2 pilots made it home. Flight Score 346.
GREEN fielded 5 pilots in the end, managing a successful strike and a partially successful CAS, recording 18 AG kills with 17 of these recorded by Homer. 2 pilots were lost to enemy fire. Flight Score 355.
BLUE attacked the mission with only 4 pilots and did very well, securing a partial success for both Strike and CAS, including an agonising total of 29 AG kills which was 1 short of the required standard for full success. 23 of these hits were accredited to Iceberg, the best individual tally on the night. 1 pilot was lost. Flight score 360.
BLACK were stars of the show for the second week running, taking 5 men out for the sortie and recording a success in both flights despite some technical issues. The strike flight engaged the first wave of Migs and dealt with them, no dramas, then hit all of the bridges before landing. CAS had a quiet trip in and quickly identified and destroyed it's targets with each aircraft engaging one of the Battalions for a team total of 32 AG kills. Unfortunately both Novac and Peebs were shot down by the second wave of Migs over the target area after the Phantoms refused to engage anything, typical! Bigbrother top scored on the night with 83 points which included 4 AA kills. Very well flown indeed. Flight Score 406.
BLACK extend their lead slightly in the monthly competition, but only 60 points separate the top 3, so there is still all the play for this month. The coveted quarterly award looks to be between BLACK and RED, with a difference of only 119 with 2 missions to fly.
Bigbrother takes over the lead in the YTD standings, with BLACK consolidating their lead at the head of the team competition.
