Posted - 07 Sep 2005 : 19:46:55 This week the teams had to take out an airbase freshly overrun by the enemy, so had to contend with a trigger happy patriot battery at the target and also a freshly captured F16 squadron which was used against us. Success required careful coordination between the SEAD, ESCORT and STRIKE flights, and communication discipline when engaging the enemy F16s in order to avoid friendly fire incidents.
BLUE took the wooden spoon this week losing all 5 pilots and reporting a mission failed. Better luck next week gentlemen. Flight score 177.
BLACK put in another solid performance, achieving a mission success for all 3 flights but losing 2 pilots, one to a Stinger and the other who crashed into the ground after being damaged by a guns shot. Flight score 360.
RED edged past Black by virtue of 3 more ground targets hit, flying with a full team of six, returning 4 home to tell the tale. Razorblade maintains an incredibly consistent run, surviving all but 1 of the 16 missions he has flown for a survivability rating YTD of over 93%.Flight score 361.
GREEN take the honours this week with 4 out of 5 returned home and a mission success, the only loss being the guest from Command who unfortunately came off the worst after taking a hit from an enemy slammer. Focus top scored on the night with 74 points which included 4 AA kills. Very well flown indeed. Flight score 384.
All to play for in September as only 25 points separate the first 3 flights.
Focus takes over the lead at the top of the YTD standings with BLACK maintaining the number one spot in the Flight competition. Credit also due to RED who have pulled back a one time deficit of over 400 points with a series of good performances to be within 80 points of taking 3rd spot.
