Hi all, after some intense weeks we have agreed on the Composition of New flights. We have reinstated all four flights again, consisting of 4 x 6 man teams with one spare seat available in each team to accommodate newcomers. Command (Tracer & PJC) will not be members of a fixed team but instead will serve as floating pilots who would take it in turns to fly with different teams who are short due to LOAs.
We carefully have tried to take in consider people’s desire to fly with at least someone they already know. A reorganisation like this will never be friction free so we ask for your support and sincerely hope we have managed to create 4 well matched teams. Should anyone feel they are unhappy with their individual allocation please contact your new flight lead/2IC to discuss the matter in the first instance. It is our intention to review the composition of the teams every 3 months under normal circumstances, however because this is such a big change for the 185th it is our plan to review the situation after 4 weeks via a senior officers meeting to be held on the 4th May.
As most of you already know Command/185th have re-launched the CPL (Career Points League) as of 1/4 2005 to create more challenge and to move the squadron forward in a team competitive way and to create a team sprit feeling inside your flight. The points that you accumulate will count towards your own individual total but also to the score for your flight. It is our intention to honour the top pilot and team each month, then each quarter and finally for the year so that everyone has something to strive for. We will make an award for the individual with the highest average points per mission to reward those members who are unable to fly in all the official missions due to fixed work commitments. The final award will go to the pilot with the highest survival rating expressed as a percentage of RTBs against the number of missions flown to recognise those who consistently bring the jet back home intact.
Its of course not our intention to create flights that do not interact with each other and just compete on points, we would of course like to see flight discuss, interact and share experience. We hope to see more activity in the forum pages, especially with regard to how your team succeeded in the official mission, it is always interesting to read well written war stories.
We are also working on a new training course which has been unfortunately delayed due to recent resignations of key personnel from the squadron who were involved in preparing the training material. We have also made the excellent brevity code guide written by Minstrel available for download from the website in an effort to improve the efficiency of voice communications during Flight Night. Please take a moment to read this excellent material if you have not already done so. For those of you wishing try your hand at TE building for the squadron, there is now a step by step guide available for download to help you get started. We hope that the reorganisation will be positively welcomed by the 185th membership and we look forward to sharing many more intense and fun flying hours together in the virtual skies.
