Command are delighted to announce that we are now in a position to relaunch the Career Points League for our official missions, effective 1st April 2005.

What this means in practice is that our official missions will once again have a slightly more serious edge to them, as each pilots performance will earn them career points which will be updated weekly to the website in a league format. Pilots will then be able to see how their performance compares with their peers, and can measure their improvement over time. It is our intention to award medals once again based on pilots’ performance, and also to honour the best pilot monthly, quarterly and annually so everyone will have something to strive for.

Career points are awarded according to the criteria laid out in the Pilot Officers Manual

Scoring System for Flight Night

Flight Lead
Flight lead gets an extra 50% points for leading the flight
Team play
For every plane that returns to base, each pilot gets an additional 5 points
Mission Results
Mission success 20 points
Partial success 10 points
Mission failure 0 points
Attendance
Finishing the mission 20 points
Technical failure during mission 15 points
Timely LOA 10 points (At least 24 hours before flight time)
Late LOA 5 points (+ or - 24 hours of flight time)
AWOL 0 points

Results are now calculated automatically by the website, but rely on a member of each flight (usually the leader) to input the results into the War Room . Once in this section, choose the “mission results” option, then select the mission from the drop down list and input the results for all the pilots in your flight. Pay particular attention to crediting the correct Flight Lead as this has implications for scoring purposes. Results for the squadron can be viewed by choosing the “View Results” option.

In order to get everyone used to this system, we have now updated the War Room to include all the missions flown this year to date. We would request that where you have results for any missions flown this year, that you could please make the effort to input the data so that the new spreadsheet that we are using to display the results can be thoroughly tested, and so that pilots can see where they stand year to date. It is absolutely vital that pilots input their LOAs as well, so even if you didn’t fly a given mission then still please make sure that a LOA, TECH or AWOL is recorded against your name for that particular mission.

Very good point Ballistic....

I will speak to Sabre on this. For now I will assume that all LOAs submitted by flight leads are timely ones unless advised otherwise :)

How do we differentiate between a timely and a late LOA in the scoring system - there is only the option of ticking for an LOA or ticking for AWOL ?

Ballistic
