In what proved to be a more challenging week, the teams tasked runway denial (OCA Strikes) to weaken the enemy airforce with mixed results.

Phase 2

1.5 Pie 90 5 runways 3 F16s lost
Iron Eagles 79 4 runways 3 F16s lost
Euro Team 61 2 runways 3 F16s lost
Iron Hand 35 2 runways 5 f16s lost

Overall state after 4 hours:-

1.5 Pie 235 3 F16s lost
Iron Eagles 191 4 F16s lost
Euro Team 138 4 F16s lost
Iron Hand 81 8 F16s lost

All the teams flew a successful first sortie this week, suffering relatively few casualties, 1.5 Pie again leading the way with a superb 4 airfields put out of action in one sortie, very well flown indeed. All the other teams played it more conservatively on the first sortie and settled for 2 airfields destroyed, still a good result. Perhaps lulled into a false sense of security, all the teams tried very ambitious flight plans for the second sortie and ran into far greater resistance, with varying success. 1.5 Pie hit their primary target but were ambushed by a group of Su27s and managed to get 2 pilots home safely to tell the tale. Iron Eagles tell a similar story, taking their primary target suffering 2 losses but feeling badly let down by their AI F18 comrades who ran away at the first sign of trouble! Euroteam managed 2 successful missions but lost 3 aircraft, flying both missions one man short due to last minute LOAs, striking one airfield with each sortie. Iron Hand suffered badly this week, both in the air and also with some technical problems with one of their team. This meant that the first sortie went ok but the 2nd sortie was flown with an understrength 3 ship including a last minute reserve. They were unfortunately wiped out on the second sortie, having tried valiantly to strike at the well defended Wonsan airbase.

1.5 Pie actually managed to fly a successful 3rd sortie within the 2 hours , however they cheekily took out a couple of lightly defended airstrips (not airfields) which although a good try, does not really count towards the campaign success and are therefore discarded for scoring purposes. Good try though guys all the same !

Very well flown to all those who took part.

Good luck next week when the teams will attempt to fly Close Air Support to the US armoured column as it heads north west, looking as if they will be met by some resistance on the ground.

Regards

Reaps,

Your assumption is correct. Valid primary targets are the tank battalions and HQ battalions only.

Secondary target units could include air defence units, but they do not pose the major threat to our US HQ unit. Thank you for giving me an opportunity to clarify in advance, this should avoid any misunderstanding.

I say: everything not moving north is game!
